hey can someone please explain this to me?

hey all its my first post but been looking on here for a while so anyway am currently traveling australia from the uk, i get a call from my gf and she says go look at the sun (knoiw not clever idea) but anyway i go out and there is a perfect circle around it got couple of pics can someone tell me whats causing it please

Yup, ice crystals.

I saw this the other night around a full moon. Sure was pretty.

I'm just thinking,could it really be ice crystals if his girlfriend saw it in u.k. & he saw it in oz?It's coming into summer in oz.
