Aug. 7 was a very good night for people who want to drive safe abortion out of Kansas. Republican primary voters ousted relative moderates from the state Senate, laying the groundwork for Gov. Sam Brownback to push through his right-wing agenda, both economic and social.

But due to the pro-life routing of ‘moderates’, there is a real possibility that after the November elections, as many as 32 out of 40 Kansas Senate seats could be filled by trusted pro-lifers!” Morris did not respond to a request for an interview.

www.slate.com...

Right wing extremist intimidation;

The Kansas Chamber of Commerce has ponied up more than $250,000 to oust moderates, with more than half coming from Koch Industries of Wichita!

www.kansascity.com...

Former Moderate Kansas Senator, Tim Owens ; Koch Industries is Just a Terrible, Terrible Citizen"

Please read this interview, Owen discusses how the

moderates were pushed out of office by corporate

funded right wing extremist republicans

www.slate.com...

Owens: It's something of a classical battle that's going on in the Republican Party these days between the ultra conservative wing and the moderates. My assessment is that there's a very passionate, ultra-conservative part of the party that got their people out to vote, and there's a fairly apathetic middle of the road moderate group that doesn't seem as passionate, to me, about anything. And that's too bad, because in the new Senate there won't be much attention paid to social services, to education, and some of the other things that at least some of us believe are tantamount to quality of life.

Owens: I've seen projections that say we'd be at a $2.7 billion in five years if we cut taxes too deeply. We have a constiutional mandate in Kansas that we have to balance the budget. if we're $2.7 billion in the hole, we either have to go back and raise taxes, which the new senators won't do, or we have to cut the programs. What do you cut in Kansas, where 67% of the budget is K-12 or higher ed? You're talking about higher ed taking a huge hit, and I suppose you're expecting private or parochical school to fill the gap. But Kansas right now is sixth in the nation for quality of public education. The theory, as I understand it, will be that businesses will bring enough new jobs to Kansas to make up the difference in funding. But if part of his tax plan is to eliminate income tax, it's not gonna make a lot of difference, is it? Do they raise the property tax instead? The whole theory is haywire.

Owens: They wrote me off early on. They went after the eight moderates they saw as impediments. And the challengers were backed very strongly by the Americans for Prosperity. I don't know if you've heard of them, but they basically have an anti-tax philosophy. They were started by Koch Industries and the Koch brothers, that's where the money comes from against us. The local Chambers are wholly owned by Koch Industries and AFP.

Slate: But Koch Industries is a Kansas-based company that ostensibly provides jobs in Kansas, pays taxes in Kansas.

Owens: Sure, but they are absolutely opposed to taxes. If it were up to them they'd want us to do away with all taxes and leave them alone. They may be a Kansas business, they may be the biggest company run by a single family, but they need to be asking the question "What can we do for Kansas?" and not "What can Kansas do for us?" Koch Industries is just a terrible, terrible citizen as far as I'm concerned. I think Koch Industries has done a major disservice to the state of Kansas.

www.slate.com...

The right wing extremist tea party is taking over the GOP. Being a moderate sensible republican is not good enough for them. They are funded by the Koch bros, who are fascists and use their minions for personal gain. They claim to be small government unless it benefits them, they receive earmarks and push for regulation on abortion..then cry about paying taxes. They want 0 regulation on corporations (but want to regulate abortion), so they can dump their waste down a stream with no issue. They try to claim grass roots were never such.

They want to privatize EVERYTHING, imagine a world without public parks, libraries. beaches, fire fighters, cops, and public schools. If your house is on fire, and you cannot pay the fee, just let it burn, who cares right?

This is nothing but a fascist mafia..save the country while you can.

Radicals are taking over the GOP

LIVE Tea Party Hopes to Oust GOP Moderates

Conservatives are on a witch hunt in Kansas, seeking to kick out moderate Republicans in state primaries on Tuesday.

Republican primary voters in Kansas could reshape the legislature in the contest, with conservatives hoping to oust moderate GOP incumbents in the State Senate who have stymied the right's political agenda.

www.policymic.com...

A remarkable thing happened on Tuesday in Kansas. Conservatives defeated seven moderate Republican lawmakers in party primaries with an eighth incumbent trailing his opponent as votes continue to be counted.

So, the guy in the first video is claiming that all pro-lifers are "radicals", and that someone is buying votes, is he? Where is hos proof of this? Can he show a single person who sold their vote? No, he can't, because if he had ANY evidence, he would have offered it. This is nothing more than another attempt to paint the opposition as "radical" or "extremist"; standard tactics in the election process these days.

Frankly, the man has NO CLUE what he's talking about. A state with a very conservative population elects very conservative people, and chooses to govern its own affairs, as the states are supposed to do, and this is something bad in his eyes? No, this is how things are supposed to be in this country. People elect who they want, and states mind their own internal affairs. "United States of" America, after all.

Besides which, that "pro-life" = "radical business is straight out of the nasty little DHS paperwork labeling basically anyone that isn't a fan of the current administration as a "potential terrorist". Same as they did for veterans (as discussed in other threads), and pretty much any other conservative group.

More than half the campaign funding for these extremists come from the Koch Industries of Wichita? I don't believe for one second that David or Charles Koch give a damn about "pro-life" issues - for them, it's an opportunity to use a wedge issue to get their puppets installed in government, that they can use and control for other issues, like tax breaks for themselves or deregulation of their industry. It's really about the $$$ for them. They are playing religious fundamentalists like a fiddle. It also means they are stoking the flames of religious hatred, and unleashing some real crazies - looking at a quote like:

The Koch's backing this agenda are only looking out for their own selfish needs. If one of these teapublicans pushing this type of rhetoric leads to a terrorist act such as a bombing will we hold the politicians responsible?

Thomas Jefferson had a little warning about the likes of the Koch brothers;

I think you're confusing the term "radical" with "reactionary".

Just wanted to point that out.

Terrorist acts like the Murrah Building bombing by a right-wing extremist, or abortion clinic bombings throughout Atlanta by "religious" Christians, or execution-style murder of doctors who were put on a hit-list by anti-abortion fascists. You know, real terrorism, versus that baloney cointel op story in Cleveland.

Calling the Right "pro-life" is a sad joke conjured up by master propagandist Frank Luntz. In reality, we should call them "forced birthers," a label I picked up from another website forum. That label is perfect, because once born, the Right has zero interest in either the survival or well-being of that child. As for pro-life, members of the Right are the greatest supporters of the death penalty, despite the proven fact that innocent people have been and are executed. The Right are also the greatest champions for "pre-emptive" war, aka the Bush Doctrine an the sickest part of his legacy that has damaged the nation more than anything else, as it have destroyed our claim to moral high ground and given rise to massive numbers of people who (justly) hate us.

Pro-life, what a joke. The Right are anything but.

Radical this, radical that! its all in the eye of the beholder!

Here's radical underpinnings for perusal, want to throw terms about? how about racist, genocidal and well just plain cold blooded.

I don't have an iron in this fire but sure like history,

Meet Miss Sanger,

In Her Own Words

One of the milder statements attributed to her,

On mandatory sterilization of the poor: : One of Sanger's greatest influences, sexologist/eugenicist Dr. Havelock Ellis (with whom she had an affair, leading to her divorce from her first husband), urged mandatory sterilization of the poor as a prerequisite to receiving any public aid. The Problem of Race Regeneration, by Havelock Ellis, p. 65,

She's founder of planned parenthood

Abortion is just another word for justification to murder unborn people.

I'm amused that so many think it is radical to save a life.

It is an innocent life. It did nothing, it caused no problems. Yet people panic when they aren't allowed to murder it.

Crazy world we live in.

It is radical to make death threats and shoot up abortion doctors/ non pro-life politicians. Did you even read the thread?

Who cares about Sanger? Yeah she was a eugenicist and wanted poors/minorities to have abortions/birth control. But we are talking current day, when she is not.

Ummm, the first thing he says in the video is that not ALL pro-lifers are radicals

A state with a very conservative population elects very conservative people,

So you have NO problem with this right wing extremism taking over all of the moderate conservatives (who are already hugely conservative) of Kansas? Along with the Koch brothers funding these groups? The Koch brothers are not for your interests unless you are in the 0.1% of the country.

You should probably actually read the thread.

No, it is right wing extremism with a plantation model economy mindset. If you think anything that the Koch brothers funds is reactionary then you are not living in reality. The group they fund (tea party) go into congress/senate and vote for things like the NDAA and CISPA and give them ear-marks.

The Tea Party are fascists

CISPA Passes The House With Tea Party Support

“The complete roll call shows 206 Republicans voting for the bill, 28 against,” writes reason’s Tim Cavanaugh. “Democrats went 42 to 140 in the opposite direction

Of these Republicans, “47 of the 66 members of the House Tea Party Caucus” also supported the bill, notes Patrick Cahalan

Yah never mind the unelected Obama czar Holdren wants to mass medicate the entire populace without their knowledge or consent to medically limit thair ability to reproduce. Why do liberals think it's ok to interfere in our free will when it's their agenda but not when it's pro life agenda?

"plantation model"? Going back to the Biden thing? Geez you'd think it was Biden who was the Tea Party guy..... oh wait, it's the Progressives who embraced fascism in the Tea with Mussolini era.

musta been a Tea Party guy who wrote a book on over population and said he wanted to mass medicate the entire populace to sterilize them. Oh wait, it was Holdren, one of Obama's unelected czars.

No, strictly plantation style economics....owner takes all while slaves do all the work. But of course, you have to try and pull a race card to try and detract from the message.
