With that said, manatees have been labelled as the culprit when it comes to lonely sailors seeing things in the water that look like women. To this day I have yet to see a manatee that looks like a woman.

I can see you've never been to a Florida Walmart on Saturday.

You'd see PLENTY of women that strongly resemble manatees. Or belugas.

Plus, never underestimate the Navy. After a few months, I could easily see a squid looking at the odd dolphin or manatee with a twinkle in his eye.

Could it be that there really are mermaids. I(my daughter) believe that they travel with whales and dolphins to keep them safe from predators. Let me know your thoughts.

I'm gonna have to agree with that assumption. I really think I saw one just after following a pod of dolphins last week in the Florida Keys. Still trying to make sense of it and researching as much as I can. I'm starting to believe it was watching me because I was following the Dolphins. a reply to: swampcricket

I agree that they are out there congregating with the other mammals in the
sea. This kid who was in this cell-phone video from 1994, came across one
after a Navy test in the ocean and ended up on an Animal Planet special
TV show:
