I recently read an annoying thread here on ATS named "Capitalism is for dummies" blaming capitalism for a bunch of bad things and praising Socialism! OP of that thread (Germanicus) thinks it is capitalism that caused high taxes, evil banks and corporations, market manipulations, etc...

It's not the capitalism that caused this bad things to happpen bacause we (the western world) are not even close to capitalism! The evil Banks are not the product of capitalism, you have them in socialist China aswell, you even have corporations there and standard of living is worse.

since many of you don't know what capitalism is, you need reeducation:
- Capitalism is a right to posses more or less than your neighboor, it is a right to earn more or less than others. Capitalism is a system that allows to those who contribute more to society (produce more goods) to earn more than those who are contributing less. Notice that we are not living in capitalism, are we?

- Evil banksters are earning by producing money out of thin air (notice they are earning and not contributing to society wich is a violation of capitalism)! -This means we are living in a different system. It is an evil system wich is more like Debtocracy since it is based on debt and producing money out of thin air!

All i know is that Capitalism is great because it respects freedom, such as a right to posses!

I always thought that TPTB already planned the transition to a New World Order. They succesfully twisted capitalism by their laws and debt doctrine (slave doctrine) and conditioned us into accepting a different kind of system such as NWO.

Sorry on my english.

Don't you get it? They destroyed capitalism so they could bring New World Order! Once capitalism dies, New system will emerge, that is - New World Order!

So what if Anti-capitalist state of mind favors TPTB because it is needed for tranistion to a New World Order system. What if they are planning order out of chaos - trying to create chaos in capitalism, to bring us into accepting NWO? What if Michael Moore is one of their puppets, What if NWO is actually real?

One more thing...
go to google pictures and search for "capitalism". You can see that genaral public is starting to hate capitalism.
Recent movie Capitalism: A Love Story accepted in the public is also trashing capitalism. Movie is created by Michael Moore and he doesn't realise that the money he earned from that movie is because of the capitalism!

DO NOT mix freedom and economic system.
The right to posses is only a small part of freedom.
Freedom belong and should be defined by the Political System employed - Democratic/Theocracy/Monarchy etc.

Capitalism have "the right to posses" and its unlimited.
Socialism also have "the right to posses" but unlike capitalism its limited by a standard defined by the governing body above - Kings/Dictators/Khalifa/President/whatever.

The problem with today world is - the unlimited keep pushing everyone under it lower.
Socialism have a limit posed by the governing body thus a much better alternative.

Capitalism - a cancer that keeps going eating your body. Fast growth, but anything can happen sooner or later.
Socialism - a nutrient that crawls your body. - Slow growth, but all assured same benefits/protection.

Choose but dont mix freedom with capitalism, its misleading.

Well said! I've always thought that it was government intrusion that distorted capitalism.

No. Capitalism is not responsible for poor people mining in Sierra Leone. You have that in socialism and communism aswell! The banksters are to blame and their ecnonomic hitmans (youtube it). And once again it is not the responsobility of capitalism.

No it's not! That 5% at the top are banksters that produce money out of thin air! They ruined capitalism and now they plan to introduce more bizzare system on unsuspecting masses that think they live in capitalism! They are earning, but not contributing! they ruined capitalism!

like most things captialism on its own is bad and so is any other form of ***ism, its when theres just the right amount of state control along with good business brains so that nothing goes out of control that breeds the best system but finding the people who can keep to those values is the problem

The free market system (when not abused by government) works. It provides equal oppourtunity to anyone willing to work.

As an LLC owner, I speak from personal experience.

But the fact capitalism does not work it is based on MONEY.

Money itself is a flawed system open to corruption and extortion, any one object that has that amount of power will always be open to corruption and extortion.

Hence why money creates crime(prostitution, human trafficking, drugs, gang crime) and also has to pay people to fight the crime it creates(Police, FBI, CIA, MI5)

People think that money is good because it helps charities like Cancer research. This is wrong!

Humans have always wanted to solve problem and crack challenges with out money, weather it is cancer research or quantum physics mysteries, people love to solve things, because it give you an amazing feeling of accomplishment when you do.

No one pay you to do Crosswords or Sudoku, So why do it?

Money don't make people feel good when they accomplish something great, yeah it help supplement the feeling, but it don't now create it.

Capitalism works great for brief while untill others are so far ahead that they undermine the system. However, capitalism is like a race for more, cheeper, faster. Really, the earth looses. Look at what it has done to the energy industry. The oily stinky crude mongers have supressed vapor carborators, efficient electrolysis, and the list goes on. What is going to be funny is when the fat cats get their doors busted down and well, you can just imagine the rest. Too bad there won't be an operating grid to broadcast the looks on their faces. Their time is comming, don't let em keep you too upset.

Another paradigm that people can debate . The illusion of capitalism and a free market.
Read my signature. America is Corporate Facism it is not capitalism or socialism , that is the illusion THEY want us to believe. Didn't the SCOTUS just rule that Corporations are PEOPLE and have the same rights !

Capitalism is exploitation.

As a worker employed by a private owner you are expected to produce more than you are paid for. The access production after wages is called 'surplus value'.

That surplus value taken from the worker is what capitalists use to pay themselves, and invest to make more money for themselves.

On top of that you as a worker are also a consumer, and out of your wages you pay again the profit for all the private owners involved in producing the product you buy.

A huge percentage of your 'wages' goes right back to the private owner. Not to mention taxes caused by the replacement of socialist ideas with liberal ideas. Socialists want worker ownership, not capitalism with a social safety net. I think we can all agree that isn't working?

In a true socialist economy, where the workers own the means of production, the worker earns the full value of their labour. There is simply no private owner to take anything from you. Essentially workers are all self-employed.

Socialism is not a form of government, it is an economic system and requires no government. There is no such thing as a socialist government. Socialists are essentially anti-statists. Only Marxist socialists support nationalisation, and that is a temporary transition period before socialism can be implemented. Some socialists are anarchists, they wanted direct action, not the political path of Marxism.

"Anarchism is stateless socialism." Mikhail Bakunin

What you all call socialism, government with a social safety net, is liberalism.

"Liberalism is not socialism and never will be'" Winston Churchill

Government has not twisted capitalism, in fact the opposite is true. Capitalists have always been a part of government since it replaced feudalism in the 1700's. They are the only class of people with the economic power to govern. Those that control the markets control politics. People simply can not see this because they refuse to accept the fact that capitalism is not freedom, or free-markets, as you have been taught. You look for any excuse to blame the problems on, but refuse to see the reality that the root problem in the economy is private ownership of the means of production.

Everything you have been taught about history, everything you do, is influenced by capitalism. It is all done so you continue to make profit for someone else, and to consider it natural.

Yes it is fascism but it is also capitalism. Corporations are privately owned. Capitalists incorporate to protect their wealth. Yes corporation are treated like people, so if the corporation goes bust the owners personal wealth can not be touched. Only the corporation is held liable, the owner can not be prosecuted.

The majority of industry in the world is privately owned.

Capitalism is not free-markets. Markets are controlled by the private owners, capitalist class, to benefit themselves. In a true free market workers would not be deprived of access to the means to produce in order to fulfill their needs and desires. Labour would not be exploited and workers would earn the full fruits of their labour.

It is free-markets only for the owners of capital, for the majority it is exploitation.

Capitalism is GOD!

There. Fixed.

Anyhow, the type of socialism that I would like to see wouldn't hurt a majority of capitalism, only corporatism.

I'd like to see less CEOs making decisions and more workers making decisions, or at least have the ability to make decisions.

The problem I see with the current corporate power structure is that even stockholders, for the most part, don't even work for the companies they partially own.

I'd like to see more worker co-owned business. More businesses without CEOs and with boards entirely filled with those who put their livelihoods in the company.

That is the path to socialism. It is all that needs to happen really.

The problem is it has to become part of our culture, as accepted as capitalism as a way to organize the economy.
It needs to be taught in school as a viable alternative to privately owned.

People need to learn that that is socialism, and liberalism is not socialism. We don't want more government control and more hand-outs, we just want access to the means to produce for our needs. Simple!

But it doesn't make anyone rich, and we allow the greedy to control the majority, all for the hope that one day we will be rich. We fail to realise wealth is not the answer, spending our lives seeking wealth is not fulfilling true desires, only desires created by carrots on sticks. We could do so much if 90% of our energy wasn't spent simply seeking the means to the right to have 10% for ourselves. We could turn it around.

Why is It when you go to work for any business you forfiet all your rights, even off the job ?
Why is it business lobbiest always have access to our elected officials and voters don'l ?
Why with already an advantage did the SCOTUS rule coroporations are people too and remove the cap on campaign contributions ? Not for the people .
Most people know our elected officials are bought and payed for , but how many realize that all U.S. DEPT.s
are stacked with business people, the same people that are suppose to be regulating the same businesses that they worked for.
Capitalism is about the business of making MONEY not taking control of the government and ruling the people.
Capitalism was just a means to achieve a goal.... money and POWER and CONTROL.

Socialism requires no government? The workers own the means of productions? Been Wiki-surfing, have you? Economists, the ultimate authority on economic systems, have defined Socialism as the public owning the means of production. In economics "public" means "government". Under Socialism all production and planning are performed by a huge, central government. Our government isn't near big enough to oversee a truly Socialist U.S.

You really need to stop with the disinformation.
