I am a BLACK man.

Media has made the black woman insecure. Black women feel that they need long straight hair, they spend all of their money on fake hair instead of trying to focus on what they have, and be beautiful as themselves instead of what is portrayed on television. If you notice mainstream music for the African culture only is Hip-hop and Pop and R&B with a lot of sexual innuendo! This makes black women to act in ways a women shouldn't act, they took the love out of the music which took the love out of black women. R&B, Soul, Funk are declining. In the Late 70s, early 80s, Black men started becoming more violent, especially in the 80s when Eazy E came to the scene. Being a gangster started to be a trend; could you imagine Eazy E today? He'd be a trending topic on twitter for a week.

If today's black women is bombarded with Meek Mill, Waka Flocka, Rick Ross, how would you think they would act? If anyone agrees that WOMEN in general should be acting like gangsters, then shame on you. Now, I believe that since the black women are into being a gangster, then the black man will continue being foolish. Black women should have had no part in it at ALL! They shouldn't even participate in this 30 year old dream the majority of black men have - being a gangster. If there weren't any black women at all participating in the dream, Like most straight men, we would change to attract the opposite sex. Since, the majority of black people as a whole are sharing this dream, we will continue to be down. Black women need to stop following these foolish Black BOYS not even men, until then black women should go for white guys til black men realize and shape up like John Travolta in grease.

Black men are only as strong as there women. Without the women to guide us, we will stay down. A woman can change a man.

So, please black women, realize that woman have no place in that lifestyle. So, just stop following us foolish brothers into the sewer. Instead make a place for us brothers to be.

The black man cannot blame the black woman for his own state of being. Stop with the blaming all your problems on everyone under the sun and take owness for your own actions. Be a man.

I like the looks of the straight hair, to each his own i guess.

No one "makes" anyone do anything.
They have personal responsibility to think and behave as they choose.
Media is just going to capitalize on that thinking and behaving.

And every individual is responsible for himself/herself, regardless of what members of the other sex are doing.

Yeah. He would probably team up with Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and Ice T and do horrible movies together.

Why is it that nobody is held accountable for their own actions anymore? Its just easier to blame everything else.

Even to the point that black men are acting irresponsibly because black women don't shape them up. I mean c'mon. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

I know more black men that are responsible citizens then "gangsters". Black men that are married to black women that are equally as responsible.

When you go to the "hood" is where you find your gangsters. And I would make a bet that those young men are committing crimes and doing drugs because:

a) they never had a father figure in their lives
or
b) they watched their father do the same actions they are doing from a very early age

Black men are distracted by their lifestyle, and as long as they have black women accepting the same lifestyle we won't change. If black women didn't accept the lifestyle at all, who will the black man turn to for love? That's why I say black women should come out of it, black men will slowly follow.

Well, it sounds like there is a bigger problem of personal responsibility than anything else.
"Distracted by lifestyle" just sounds like an excuse to avoid self reliance.
Just my take on it.

No! Stop twisting the words! Black man are acting irresponsibly on there own! Black women are accepting there irresponsibility, which lets them continue. If black women did not accept that at ALL, black men would change to get there women, like any MAN of any RACE would change to get there woman.

They are just a product of their environment.

I have worked in some different demographic areas just in my 30 mile radius. I have surveyed new housing developments where the people moving in are primarily in the minority (african-american, latino) and are all upstanding citizens. The families moved up from the more metropolitan area of NYC to live in what they call "the country". The fathers of said families were usually NYPD, FDNY, or any other civil service occupation down in the city, and all the kids that I observed (ranging from as soon as they could walk all the way up to watching the high schoolers getting on the bus) seemed to be very well put together, no baggie clothes, no flashy jewelry, and I would never hear profanities or language that would make you question there morality.

And then I have worked in some areas that you wouldn't want to be caught in a night. Local news reports every day about a 15 year old being jumped, stabbed, shot at, shot, or killed for a $10 bill, dimebag, jacket, shoes, you name it. They are barbarians. And the girls are no better.

When there is no stability at home, kids have nothing else but to hit the streets.

Regardless if they are listening to Marvin Gaye or Lil' Wayne.

Black people need to stop complaining.


We have a black president.


There are no more excuses.

Pointless thread i don't really care for black people nor white people I just care for people who don't like subject themselves to an identity, because with identity come a possibility of ideas to what that identity is, and then comes people who claim to be the true meaning of that identity in mention which = segregation, deprivation and ultimately separation.

The worse thing the west has ever done was 'Commercialise beauty' and Happiness. Yes I suppose it was emotional extortion that played on a basic fear of women feeling ugly. i mean to us men a lot of us think that make up is just face paint, stuff that clowns use. But for women it is about making themselves feel beautiful and unfortunately the only way to do that now is to buy buy buy.

I like your post, OP. I understand the other poster's feelings about personal responsibility, but as somebody who has spent a great deal of time around the black community, I get the feeling that black women are the backbone of the black community. They are strongly verbal and not afraid to say how they feel, so if they stopped adoring and supporting the "thug life", stopped allowing their men to be jobless whore-mongers who have kids with a bunch of different women, and told them to shape up or get the eff out, things would slowly begin to change.

And yes, you bring up an excellent point about black women thinking they have to look Caucasian in order to be beautiful. Ever seen a black Barbie doll? It is simply the white Barbie using brown plastic, with straight black hair. The black women who are celebrities are the ones who have the "whitest" features.

The Jackson family is the most glaring example of blacks who hate their own features so badly that they surgically contort themselves into something barely recognizable as human. Truly sad. Many black people are beautiful just as God made them, and afros are cool.

Self-acceptance and personal responsibility are two traits sorely needed in the black community right now, and I do applaud the OP for pointing this out. But don't wait for your women to lead y'all.....Be the change you seek.

Tell me, does the media and black man make white men and women go to tanning beds to make their white skin brown? Do these forces cause white people in to getting skin cancer so that they might not look so white?

I understand what you are saying. If there was a collective agreement between women of any race to put their foot down and say enough is enough men, then you may see a change in the way some men carry themselves. But there are millions of women out there that offer something, anything, to any man.

But it came into fashion when rich people started taking vacations to the beach.

Of course it isn't because of Jersey Shore, people been tanning for YEARS!!!!!!! That's just an example in the media.

I also believe that a lot of black men are going for white women simply because the majority of black women participate in that lifestyle, the black men that don't are trying to get away from that lifestyle, but yes there are always the white hoodrats that black men get also.
