I have this thing called Davephobia.

I'm terrified of people called Dave.

I think everyone else here has a case of sycophantophobia...a fear of government programming.

My sister has Bananaphobia. When she went to a therapist for it, he discovered that the fear was all because of the movie Arachnophobia, specifically the part where the spiders are crawling all over the Bananas in the truck. Haha!

She screams and cries and everything when she sees someone eating one or just a bunch of the sitting somewhere. Every time she comes for a visit I have to tell my kids that aunt Sissy is coming so you're going to have to go a week with out.

Oddly enough she is no afraid of spiders. Hmmm

Is that necessarily a bad thing in the global scheme of things?

Although one shouldn't generalize or idealize certain peoples and lifestyles, I read again recently that some hunting and gathering tribes in the Amazon must only work 6 hours a day to supply their direct needs, and the rest is really spare time.

According to the Genesis myths, working was a curse that came with the fall and full-time agriculture.

I think it's good to work and not to free-load, but working for things that are unnecessary is probably a drain on the planet and the ecosystem.

We should perhaps fear it, because it's all eventually taken from the planet.

Syphilophobia- Fear of syphilis. Yeah, well I'd hope everyone has this. Imagine a conversation with someone who didn't? "Dude she's smokin' hot". "she has syphilis man" "What's a little syphilis between friends"?
