well, I just invested all the money I had left into America.

I think there is a consiracy to bitch about America and try and pull down the Lion. Everyone is bitching and winging about the American recession. Well go and suck a fart cos even though I am not American, I am a patriot.

America is THE number one global currency. And recession? What recession??? America had to dip into some of their reserve, no big issue there.

It is like me...spending some of my reserve...my financial situation hasn't changed...just spent some of my savings/nest egg. I am still saving money. Get it?

Dip into their reserves?

you cannot be trillions in debt and 'drip into reserves'.. you can acquire more debt.. but any dipping your doing is most definitely the skinny type after your clothes have been sold to buy bread!

Sorry mate.. you spending money and saving isn't like America borrowing money and spending.. there's quite a difference there.. No wonder some American was happy to take your money as an investment, you obviously don't get the concept behind '' savings and borrowings''

why not put your money into something more transparent.. like Greece? I hear there making a killing at the moment.

The Lion?

Wow, you surely are a patriot, that is for sure. Yet, is there really a need to be so aggressive about this? This is your feeling about the "lion", however, many others, worldwide, and in America, does not feel the same. You can share your experience here, but please do not be so vindictive about it.

hahah Greece? that is a joke... right?

It is so typical that people abandon something when it is going through a rough patch... bit like marriage nowadays?

it is so easy for people to do that and it is so disappointing.

I got my advice from Commsec so I will trust the investment.
oh and my intuition.

I am seeing it more and more... people ragging America. Well I think that is jealousy. takes a lot of hyenas to pull a lion down.

The OP made me laugh out loud. You seem to have a very negative view on peoples opinion of the US. Not really sure why when all they are doing is showing it for what it is. Americans, Europeans, Africans, Asians...heck I'm sure even the Eskimos are fed up with the US. Its not the people, so please don't take offense to that, its their policies, especially their foreign policy.

Trust me, if the US took their military out of every foreign country that they were currently engaged in and shoved it up their a**, this world would be a far happier planet to live on.

Feel free to invest in the US, its your money to lose, no one else s. IMO, investing in banks or any other financial institution is a NO GO. Its only inevitable that it will all come crashing down soon.

If i were you, I'd invest in precious metals.

see what I am talking about? There is a definite smear campaign about the USA and it is so evident...

All I have said, is that I am 'investing' in America and so far, I have no stars or spangled banners... just negative comments... anti-American supporters.

Well, to me USA is the Lion... you can call refer to it as an Eagle...but fyi... that is a recent term -> post WW2.

People are so quick to rag USA... Am I the only one seeing this?

Very big deal. There is no reserve. They dipped into my child's pocket and my future grandkid's pockets.

I am not sure what your saying. I support America -> that is what I am saying and even if I lose one cent in every dollar, I don't care. I will support what I believe is good and support it when it needs it the most

and as for buying metal.... LMAO

that is what I do for a crust and even that market fluctuates.

Its not smear. I hope you do well with your investment. It is just cold hard facts. The world is changing. Other countries are growing and the world will have to learn to do things a bit different. What is wrong with that....

And here is a flag and stars for thee too!

the media are making it far worse than it is.

it is almost like the media want people to think they are weak and broke and that is not the case. I suggest you look at some real information that doesn't come up too readily on google.

The truth is USA is the strongest economy in the World so have a bit more faith in that.

People are so quick to believe negatives.. what the hell is wrong?

world bank

Federal Reserve in the International Sphere

Richest countries in the world by gdp

While some properly researched short term investments are still a good bet, I would not suggest making any long term investments at the moment due to market unpredictability and volatility.
It is simply too hard to tell what the future is going to bring as financial decline is already in progress and a worldwide depression is a strong possibility.
While the American economy is the most influential in the world it is technically no different from any other, and is in too large amount of debt to be a safe investment. You wouldn't invest in someone with a huge home loan debt but no way to repay it would you? (Unless your a bank ha ha ha)

Be careful out there, you don't want to make a bad financial decision on the whim of some emotional patriotism .
If you will trust me on one thing let it be this: Investments and emotion do not go together. You will not find a smart person investing in what he wants to succeed, but what he knows will succeed; and we simply do not know if the US will succeed, but the outlook is not bright.

What exactly did you invest in? An industry or sector if you don't want to be specific..

you have to keep the debt in perspective to population and output and compare it globally.

Well that is not really a bad investment because the Australian dollar is very similar to the US dollar anyway; if there is a return I doubt it will be much as the two seem to mirror each other.

But do yourself a favor and sell up the second you can get a profit.

It is bad for our dollar to be up so high = Tourism is one of our main sources of income and usually our dollar sits around the 87c mark...so if I make 15c in every dollar.... it will be a return.

either way, I could just have a holiday and support US tourism.

omfg epic idiocy

america has no "reserves"
it only has the federal reserve where it prints more money to pay interest on its debts
the bubble will eventually burst and will leave the country deflated (pun unintended)
america is like a gambling junkie sometimes it wins but most times it wont
and there is only a few casinos left that will let them in at the minute
until their gambling debts become too great
then the entire strip wont let em play slot machines no more......
