Kentucky Church bans interracial couples

I think most people here are forgetting the most important thing here: Love.
When two people love each other who is anyone to tell them what they can or cannot do? You sometimes can't control they way your life unfolds and how or when love is going to hit you right in the face.

My partner is black and we have 3 beautiful children. All are strong, healthy and do well in school and sports. I'm blessed with what I was given along my path. I'm also very proud of where I'm from and my heritage. But I've never let it guide my love life, know what I mean?
I think people who are always busy "preserving" their ethnicity are a little scary...But, that's me.

On one hand I beleive the Lord loves all His children equally, wahtever their skin color, and He wants us to praise Him together as one human family. We are all the Children of Adam and Eve! This cannot be pleasing in the eyes of the Lord.

On the other hand, government should never, ever interefere in church policy. As soon as they do that, we can be sure the Antichrist is at hand because his will be the merging of secular power with the corrupt church.

These are two seperate issues and it's important for every Christian to recognize and respond to these two issues in a seperate way. When they get mixed up in people's minds is when we go astray. Or as Dr. Egon Spengler famously opined, "Don't cross the streams. It would be bad."

Seriously, you need to stop equating africans to African Americans and interacial couples which is what this thread is about. i'm not equating it directly. it's genetically related, but dissipates over generations when the quality of life is higher, which is why africans in other places of the world who don't live in poverty, are producing doctors, lawyers, politicians, mathematicians and etc, because the human brain if properly sustained, is capable of the same levels of brilliance.

the video does not say that african people are genetically predisposed to this situation because they were meant to be, but rather because of living conditions.

i'm not disputing that poverty or Monsanto play a direct role however, i do not agree IQ holds as much weight as this study tends to infer. ok?
let's not forget that AIDS has ravaged that country for nearly 50yrs ... i'm sure that has some effects downline.

need the states approval, tell me how you can champion freedom, if you cannot even allow

The similarities between the gay marriage and interracial marriage battles is that both draw/drew fire from the states rights crowd.

Interracial marriage is accepted by most people in the US. Why can't gay marriage also get the same acceptance?

And what is in the water down in that part of Kentucky? Are these people actively advocating a return to the 19th century?

There are people in this thread that still think that states' rights should take precedence over the right of minorities to enjoy the same benefits as the majority.

Exactly.

White Power, Black Power, etc are all just fronts for the free expression of hatred. However, in the case of Black Power, I can understand the roots behind it and the reasoning for its' existence. I can't understand that for White Power because White people have been known as the oppressors for decades now and I just can't buy it.

they really aren't as much or as often, because generationally, their quality of life is higher than their relatives in africa. keep saying that. what the video is saying is even under good conditions, there's a disparity, but that's related to generational poverty, which takes awhile to repair. or at least, that's what i'm getting out of the video misoir posted. maybe i misunderstood it? not sure why you are cussing at me about it though. i was just commenting on how this info applies to everyone, when it gets right down to it, because if poverty causes disparity and generational poverty makes it genetic, the only thing that's keeping the royals from being brilliant is their decision to inbreed for thousands of years..

Good stuff, and if it was a reality id have no complaint. But because being a minority is seen as a disabilty and being white as an advantage (obviously a racist government sanction) If you are white you are then given a meritable disability just because your white. i don't agree with their choice but i support their right to make choices. sorta suggesting they have brains of their own and use them how they wish, within the law of course. if the law is too invasive, it causes people to get even weirder. best to let people work out their problems. gov just isn't equipped to handle such things without abusing it.

Further more, the attitude that solidified the hatred against black men, is the same attitude that
was used as a justification for their enslavement. They are not as intelligent or as advanced as the
gentry... This is why people are jumping all over you. It is not that it is PC in this case, it is that
racialism, as it has been breed here for many generations, was a born of intolerance and hatred.
The same hatred which supplied the psychological basis for allowing someone to be the private
property of another person. The separation, the intentional limits placed open interaction, social
union, was a tool to ensure that the black race, the free labor, would not exit the stigma that was
placed upon them. The stigma that viewed them and employed them like farm animals, was
a very key component in keeping slavery alive. So the justification you state as your motive,
is, unfortunately, hard to detect when it was also a key function to perpetuating, slavery for many
centuries and then segregation.

Sounds like you are telling many of us that racism is some sort of misinterpreted racial pride, many
of us recall that segregating the races in recent history was a way of maintaining specific dominance
over another race. So while your motives may be what they are, you are doing yourself one
hell of a disservice missing out on the economic reasons races were separated so rigidly in the
south. All of these factors/tools for/of segregation are tied to the institution of slavery, maybe
eternally so. Just wanted to point out that, it seems like you missed that in the description of
your Bunkerism's

The church has a right to do what it wants especially since the Bible actually says that god created everything after their own or something like that so you have to stay with your own race anyway.......so this is just what all churches have to do if they are to be taken seriously.

I'm sure the interracial couples could get married elsewhere anyway.

oddly enough, the lady in the video in misoir's post is trying to show how generational poverty will degrade the iq of any racial group, but i think more specifically, she means to suggest that blacks score lower world wide because their african ancestors were impoverished. it takes quite some time in good living conditions to correct that. if we look at economic charts, i bet we will find areas where generations of the same families of any race, who have been poor with poor diets, generation after generation, will as a result, score lower on the same tests. in effect, poverty sucks for everybody.
