Iran ratcheted up tensions in the Middle East yesterday when its foreign minister declared the country was ‘ready for war’ with Israel and the West.

In inflammatory remarks certain to fuel uncertainty in the volatile region, Ali Akbar Salehi warned that Tehran would ‘not hesitate’ to retaliate if attacked. His posturing came as Foreign Secretary William Hague urged Israel’s defence minister not to fan the flames during top-level talks in London.

"In case of an attack by the Zionist regime, the United States would also be hit," he added, without elaborating.

Britain is also stepping up its preparations for a military strike on Iran, The Guardian newspaper reported on Wednesday. According to its report, London is increasingly concerned over Tehran's nuclear program and is preparing to deploy Royal Navy ships in the coming months to assist a possible American strike on Iran.

I don't recall Iran every saying in the past that "U.S will also be hit".... If they have no sufficient airforce nor long range missiles, how can they "hit" U.S? Do they mean the Green Zone in Iraq?

How do we know Iran hasn't already planted crude nuke devices on American soil?
We don't do we!

Oh I could have gone the rest of the month (timing intentional) without hearing Iran make that statement. HOW would Iran hit the United States? Oh, thats friggen easy....and we did nothing to stop this from happening.

Iran's U.S. Strike Capability

There are also numerous reports of Hezbollah on the Mexican side of the border and peddling dope for operating funds with cartels who very well MAY have high end and high tech military hardware. Think about that one.... We've supplied Mexico with a lot and some of those Cartels recruited Special Operations units almost as a WHOLE with the gear they could bring. Los Zetas comes to mind for the best example of that.

Oh..it's something everyone needs to keep in mind, I believe... There is a whole different possible front to a coming Middle East war and it's A LOT closer than the other side of the Planet.

Oh.. a little fact about the Missiles that are supposed to be there? If they are of the missile class claimed, they could theoretically put one right on top of Cinderella's Castle in Orlando. That was the maximum range I'd worked out months ago when this whole story first came out....I wouldn't give them credit for a guidance system that good, but that was maximum range of what was publicly talked about.

You don’t need air force/Navy or missiles to hit a country as far as US.

Just a reminder!

I love the way the reports try to make out like Iran is the aggressor when all they will be doing is defending themselves.

Its the US/Israel/UK thats going to start it.

Iran does so have an airforce. They bought the U.S.'s old F-14s.

No one needs to start anything though.

The Bush doctrine should be retired.

There's a large Iranian population in Canada and the US. Well over 100,000 in Canada, and over 300,000 in the US.

It isn't as easy as it used to be, to just round up the supposed enemy in your own country anymore, plus ethnicities tend to stay close together, because of language and other common interests.

About a third of Canada's Iranians live in and around Toronto, and Vancouver also has many. I'm not sure of their demographics (locations) in the states, except that they are there.

You got to love the bravado coming out of Iran. Ready for war? Seriously? Not that I think they can't put up a fight, but come on....when you know the battlefield is going to be on your own turf, are you really going to take the stance of "bring it on"? Yeah, OK Iran, are you really ready to have your entire country leveled?

On a side note....with these stories that have come out over the past couple of days about Israel, US & UK gearing up to strike Iran.....Am I the only one that feels like this is a bluff...a bluff to get Iran to flinch and lob the first bomb? Once Iran strikes first, then everything action taken on behalf of the western world will be is justifiable....and would probably keep Russia and China out of the conflict.

Iran has been surrounded and pushed into a corner where they have nowhere to go but defend. They wont go down without a fight of epic proportions!

The US and Israel will regret making a enemy out of Iran if war starts!

First off we have been an enemy of iran for some time. Second of all, why EXACTLY would they regret "making an enemy out of iran"? Can you elaborate a little bit?

I just have to ask, where have you been for the past 13 years? Because thats how long Iran has been waiting for the imminent attack from Israel and the US and Israel waiting for Iran to to strike them.

I don't think I understand the purpose of your question. Of course I know what is going on over there. What part of my post made that unclear?

It's OK. Iran aren't stupid. They're just not going to let other countries bully them. Hence the bravado. It'll be words until the West do something, whether openly or covertly.

Israel has already been assassinating the Nuclear scientists in Iran. You wonder why Iran has such a vendetta?

Im afraid they will have no choice! Really? We could have iran done and be in the next country we decide to take before lunch break! Guarrantee. These wars only need last as long as NATO thinks they need to last.

You might want to lump the Chinese into that if they are taking side with Iran . To and Van
