Cigarettes can be used as a time delay mechanism for improvised ... devices. Nicotine also increases the effectiveness of short term memory which might come in handy if you need to scout something quickly.

I assume you are anti all forms of nicotine ? If that's the case then you can stop wasting your time. We know there may be some possible side effects from long term use of some of the chemicals used in some of the e-liquids. We do have scientific studies on the safety of inhaling most of the liquids and the e-cigs effectiveness as a quit smoking tool. The idea is for those who cannot quit any other way is to have a much safer alternative to smoking cigarette tobacco with all it's chemicals and combustibles that cause harm. This we know we have in an e-cig and have the science to prove it. We are not worried about any possible small health risks from long term use of e-cigs. We know it's much safer than continuing to smoke cigarettes. It will not kill us like smoking cigarettes will. We have heard it all before.

Rockman7, John Phoenix, and CoherentlyConfused, I am drawing you out to another thread where you can explain your expertise. I will appreciate your comments, as you three seem to be the most knowledgeable on the subject of E-cigs.

I read this thread, all twelve pages so far, and have distinguished you guys as "experts" in this field. I'll admit I am a smoker of 26 years.

However, after reading this thread, I googled places locally that sell E-cigs. I found one that sold a starter kit for 14.99 USD. 1 battery, 2 carts, and a simple USB charger. I drove out and bought it.

(I won't tell the brand in this thread, wrong forum, but visit the chit-chat thread to find the nitty-gritty)

It hit like a cigarette, they ship with a half charged battery, and are fully functional when you buy them. I was wow. I hit it a few times, unscrewed the battery, and let it charge the 5 hours the IM said. The light went green, fully charged. I screwed the cartridge back in, wow, once again. The brand of E-cig I bought was barely different from what I usually smoke.

Here's the clincher. I quit buying cigarettes long age. I bought a 79 USD cig injector, and have buying tubes and pipe tobacco (at tax code L) ever since.

Until this thread, and I heard about the E-cig a while ago, the unit 70 USD and carts 15 USD, which didn't appeal to me price wise, I had no clue of the advancements made.

Definitely an alternative, especially after TSHTF.

Please help me out and VISIT THIS THREAD.

I am fascinated by the amount of flavors available. I've researched E-cigs all afternoon.

This is my first post after lurking for a couple years, so be kind. I purchased an e-cig kit about 4 weeks ago and have not had a cigarette since. I was a pack-a-day smoker for about 7 years. This concept is literally too good to be true, so I am just waiting for TPTB to make these products illegal to own. Supposedly there are already a few states that are currently working on this.

If anyone on here is as smoker and wants to quit tobacco, try it. One tip, get one of the higher-level nicotine juices so your cravings can stay in check. DO NOT buy the ones in stores - they are often not refillable and almost appear to be of shoddy quality so you go right back to tobacco. I vape all day at work and home. I can smell things again and I even have a bit more energy. I can breathe. Plus the juices are DELICIOUS (and cheap). There is forums everywhere about this stuff so research before you buy. I plan on acquiring a SHTF bulk stock of juices Happy vaping everyone!

Canadian boy here. Yes, we've suffered from insane prices for cigarettes for many years. Recently i have tried some ecigs, and although its not as satisfying as the real thing, its saved me a few bucks, and I can smoke them anywhere. It does turn a few heads in public areas ie. the pub, the ballpark, the airport, but fills the urge. Im not 100% off of real smokes, ive reduces signifigantly.

Wow! I step away for a day or so from this thread and upon coming back I find it has disintegrated into diatribe between a few about Satan and ciggs. I won't get into the Satan thing, all I will say is ....well when you leave this big beautiful planet you will learn if you were right or wrong about whom you worship. Now there that said.
I am in the medical field. I am going to give you one specific situation. Be aware now: this is a graphic description of my own experience: If things like autopsies etc bother you do not read:
When I was a student in first year of training I was ordered with others in my class to go to an autopsy.
If I recall correctly the man was in his mid 60s. As the pathologist began to show us the various organs he pointed out specifics in detail of what to look for. things like enlarged heart, and arterial blockages.
when he got to the lungs he found several small tumors. But they could barely be seen because the tissue that was normally pink was black and coated with a tar like material.
when he got to the kidneys he showed us one artery, removed it held it between his hands and bent it,....It snapped in two... Arteries are muscle. Not glass, and not anything breakable. At that point two people in my class passed out on the floor..[we were very new to this]
the Pathologist then explained that this man had smoked a pack a day for more than 25 years.
I couldn't believe how compromised this mans system was. No way he was breathing right for the past 10 years...no way he could get any blood to his brain, and it appeared every single organ in this mans body was affected.
. I am not defending anyone nor am I attacking. I am simply stating what I know to be a fact. We all must die. but..we do not have to die slowly and in such misery. I used to totally enjoy my smokes. but I discovered I enjoyed the Jasmine smell of the Moon flowers in the evening. I discovered I was putting way to much hot sauce on my chili because I couldn't taste it. when I quit a whole new world opened up to me I had totally forgotten. Smells, tasting, ...You loose much of all of that. I decided I enjoyed the smells and tastes much more than the tobacco. but to each his own.

However, I just can't help but post my utter distaste for the introduction by #ing Newt Gingrich and his audacity to talk about Orwell's 1984 and how it protected us from a totalitarian regime by informing us of what would happen if we didn't stay diligent. What a joke. That bastard has the cheek to actually say that crap even after he showed so much support for regimes in this country that came right out of 1984. If anything, it is men like him that are going to cause the plot line of this book (One Second After, not 1984) to unfold because of their constant war-mongering provoking such hatred towards this nation.

More on subject, I've seen many people list tobacco as a crucial supply in their BOB's even though they don't smoke just as you posted. I find your insights into the e-cigarettes to be rather intelligent, and I think I will include an old one that I got before I quit smoking into my Faraday Cage containing my backup power generation and data storage devices. I also would like to add that if anybody keeps a survival seed bank, heirloom tobacco seeds would be a nice addition for the same reasons as the OP suggested.

I'm sure I know smokers that have more willpower than you could ever conceive of, and could run circles around you. I've known marines that smoke 2 packs a day and can still run a 17 minute 3 mile...it's a personal choice that has nothing to do with any weakness.

You take offense. Do I sound like I care???? NO. What I say is in fact correct and it stands as is. If you smoke then you are no better than what I have listed above. A lot of you seem determined to just reply to me and not the OP's topic. Do you all want me to hear you?

Unfortunately, from my pedestal I gaze down at you with pity. Smoking is vile and the people who do deserve the cancers, pain and death that is inevitably coming their way. Too feel the pain and torture of slow death gives me a slight upwards curl of the lips as I strongly believe that no one deserves it more.

The e cigs the OP is talking about is a far cleaner option for those who have to tolerate smokers. And yes I mean tolerate. Non smoking superiors hold smokers in contempt. If you are determined to kill yourselves then you deserve to die! I have asked Satan to welcome you!

I am not a troll. I do not think that the way I think is going to kill me. In fact its people who need to smoke just to get through a day that have nothing to live for.

I do agree with you that hate, anger and stress age the body and mind...however, even though my posts have a degree of hate and anger through the mode of typing I am not in fact that way. I have a great life and few select friends. Yes most are part of the Church of Satan or Lucifer's Church (as all the most successful people tend to be) I do happen to mix with good god fearing citizens too. Religion or ones beliefs are not what make a person.

I support the idea of world depopulation and do not believe jobs should be given by companies to the unemployed. If you care to hear my thoughts please just ask and I shall open a new thread.

The E cig though is a great step in the right direction for those who smoke regular cigs. For most it will be too late (a few less people on the earth shall not really matter) but those who change over in time, good luck to them. It takes proper will power to stop such a degrading habit that has no logical need.
