OWS Useful Idiots, but Useful to Who?

I really don’t care about the origins of the “Occupy Wall Street” movement. Personally, I believe that it was staged by the unions, the Socialist and Communist parties, a rebranded ACORN and Soros. What I do care about is what it has become.
There has been much said about the lack of coverage by the MSM, even though the MSM is owned by the very corporations that are being protested against. The majority of the coverage I have seen has been about how politicians (Obama, Pelosi…etc.), Unions and the rebranded ACORN are in favor of the protest and supportive of those who are protesting. Whatever the reasons that OWS was formed it is being hijacked. I used to work for a company that did advertising and they had a saying, “In our industry, perception is reality”. Right now the perception of OWS is that they are campaigning for Obama and supporting the Democrat Party.

No matter what OWS actually stands for, it is being corrupted in the way it is being presented to the rest of the world. Those of you who are involved with OWS need to consider this.

Who are you calling idiots exactly ? The people that are actually willing to do something rather than yourself who sits at your desk, pointing out the incredibly obvious ?

The media spins stuff ? NO WAY that's huge news I guess I will have to consider this, as it changes everything. "Hey guys call it all off, the media is spinning the story, time to pack it in"

Also, only the truly ignorant would think they are out there supporting Obama , get a grip on reality.

You also make the assumption that the people who are out there are somehow less informed than you, which couldn't be further from the truth.

Useless post, useless to everyone is what this thread should be renamed, seriously, why not post the sky is blue.

Its only perceived that way by people on the right, people who are ruled by fear, people who need to label everything they come in contact with as Lib/Rep, in general, people who are misinformed.
You need to consider that.

NO KIDDING! I never said that they were. What I said is that PEOPLE'S PERCEPTION of OWS is being influenced by the MSM to make them BELIEVE that they are.

Actually, the term "Useful idiot", though once really used to describe Soviet sympathizers in Western countries, today also describes blind supporters of government, Tea Party Members and even islamist Supporters.

To me... the problem of OWS is that when someone questions them, or their intent, or says something critical...I see responses chastising the critics or the inquirers with.."You are asleep" or "You are afraid to do something, sitting and hiding behind a desk."..."You take what the MSM spoon feeds you."

What I don't see is a concise and reasonable explanation of what OWS is protesting... the previous posts are good examples of what I am talking about.

What OWS doesn't understand and the previous posters either...is that most of America does not understand what they are protesting.

OK... call us stupid, asleep, the sheeple...OK.. feel better? Now...why are you protesting? Tell us in a simple paragraph why you are doing what you are doing?

The OWS is one protest...the Tea Party is another protest... BUT, there is a large group of Americans that are silent...the "silent majority."

They are too busy working, farming, trying to feed their family and meet obligations and responsibilities to just drop everything... leave Pig Nuckle, Tennessee and head to the nearest big city and protest.

They are not iggnorant, nor are they timid, nor are they asleep. They have children, families, and businesses to tend to. They really want to understand what OWS is all about... we only know what we are told and what we hear in passing.

We know how movements get taken over... and manipulated...we see it in commercials, in culture, in movies, in social styles...and we know it happens in political movements. OWS.. you do know that somewhere in the organization, you are being hijacked just like the Tea Party?... and any other movement... a tool to guide and lead public opinion.

So, before it is too late...what is OWS and why are you protesting?

I'm left leaning and I am having trouble putting my full support behind the movement. I'm not sure I have liked what I have seen on the livestream of the protesters and their tactics. The core of the group seems very insular and although they say things like "come along and share your views", I'm not sure whether they are ready to listen to them at their nightly "general assembly" meetings (where was the democracy in selecting them?).

It seems they are operating in a filter bubble, where they only want to see and hear a positive view of what they are doing. It seems like any dissent is stifled and opposing views, welcomed, but ignored.

They are not interested in reaching out to the real poor of New York, they are not interested in taking their message to the ghetto's and the Bronx ignoring swathes of those they claim to represent.

Maybe I am judging them too harshly, it is good that people are out and protesting, but I cant help being cynical about many of those in that park

Articulate for me what OWS is about. I could sit here all day and write about my political beliefs...but, I am asking for you to articulate to me and others what it is that OWS believes.

good thing they don't call for a General Work Strike like in other countries..... If they did then they'd find out just how many people really don't care about what they are doing.

Did you know that ? No you didn't because you never bothered to learn anything about what your commenting on. You can refer back to the wikipedia entry on idiot, and maybe you can edit it the way you edited the entry for useful idiot.
