I think Obama will cut bait and declare Eric Holder incompetent .

It's his only way out. Truth be told Eric Holder is corrupt.

If the CIA would water board Holder we would find the whole truth.

The goal was to - smear - the gun dealers and the NRA.

It all went wrong. Now Holder has blood on his hands.

Or, he could throw Lanny Breuer to the wolves and try to distract the Congressional investigators by offering an easy (and eager?) scapegoat/target.

Thankfully, Congress has only seized upon Breuer's admissions as proff that Holder and DoJ have been involved from the beginning.

Breuer's attempted diversion onto the "Wide Receiver" episode will back fire, becasue if Mukasey and his aides saw it as important enough for close watch, surely Holder and his insiders must have done so as well. Either he did, or he abandoned his responsibility.

In either case, he;s not qualifies to serve, and is likely a perjurer.

The president should order Holder and every official involved in this, in all agencies, especially the ATF to go into Mexico and personally track down every weapon, and not to even try to return to the USA until they have collected them all.

If they are killed in the line of duty, they can be heroes just like the kids sent to die in Afghanistan and Iraq.

They died trying to do the right thing.

Maybe he should have taken Clinton's example, and disputed the definition of the word gun. Or aware.
