Zero growth for French economy in second quarter
A drop in household consumption hurts French growth

www.marketwatch.com...

At least the USA had some growth.

But yes, it looks like they are doing so well.

its easy to proclaim you have growth by spending trillions you dont have.
That is not sustainable.

The French are in a far better position than the US.

The french don't live on credit. We don't have credit cards here. We OWN our cars, our houses, the old fashioned way (save up and buy it when you have the money).

But if you do get into trouble I’m sure that you will come to the US begging and asking for our aid and assistance like so many times before. The day you think the French government is working more efficiently than the American, is the day this world will implode upon itself. Honestly.

At least US hasnt invested so strongly into Greece and at least we dont hold much of their debt. Like France does.

Because Greece is doing so well.

FYI- I would do a little more focusing on your Soccer team as well, looks like our men and women can out perform you there as well.

When did they come to the US begging and asking for aid and assistance? I am not being sarcastic or anything, I really am ignorant on that and am not aware it happened! I do know about the americans being able to have a revolution due the french assistance..... though THEY don't ever bring that up.

As far as I can tell, living in the country, the french government IS working more efficiently than the american government at this time. I doubt that will make the world implode, except for melodramatic Americans caught up in illusions of omnipotence- but they'll get over it eventually.

The only reason the french are caught up with Greece is because they share the same currency. And they are accepting responsibility for that decision and taking their role as leader without complaining (unlike Germany).
They actually believe it is right to be an aid to the less fortunate members of your community. They believe that is "normal" not that it makes you a hero to be worshipped for hundreds of years as having done something amazing.

The reason people can become wealthy in our societies is because people have been paying taxes to fund the infrastructure, education, health and defense of the nation. Wealth is not created in a vacum, it relies on a stable, educated, healthy society. that also needs to be defended and interests protected abroad and at home. Only possible through taxation.

Just my opinion.

And you are pathetically dependent on trading with Germany. How embarrassing.

Good thing that's just your opinion since you obviously don't know what you're talking about. Taxes kill a nation's purchasing power.

And how was that national strike demanding the gov't. not raise retirement age to two more years?

Which was useless considering Amerika is still under the British crown.

Yeah, I've already heard your opinion on that. I still fail to see how it is embarrassing. It is no more embarrassing than America's dependance on Middle East oil. Countries all over the world are interdependant ultimately. No man is an island, and no island is totally independant. It is only hypocrisy to claim one is completely independant.

Off topic but a good question, what's up with the Hillary Borg queen avatar? Seriously, it is so 1998. People have moved on since then.
Oh well, at least it isn't a Ron Paul avatar, signature, tattoo, blood signed pledge of support...

wildtimes, something you mentioned reminds me of boyhood and my Dad commenting of the mega-wealthy: when is it enough? So Many times I hard him say "How many millions do you need? When will they be happy? How many Rolls-Royces do they need in the mansion garage - they can only drive one at a time, for gosh sakes!"

over the years i've read so many times about some executive making incredible millions per year, or getting a bonus that well exceeds what most will see in their family lifetime. and i've said to myself - why not take the money and run? step aside, let someone else play top dog. go play golf. do whatever you please. why work yourself into a heart attack before you're 60?

i knew a man that was a self-made millionaire in his life from hard work in the amusement rides industry. he told me the more he had, the more he wanted. and the more money he had, the bigger p@#%k he became. (his words). he told me he would eat at posh restaurants then find something to loudly complain about when the check came. he would buy $450 shoes then demand a new pair if they became scuffed. he realized the person he became, and he didn't like what he saw.

as with so many man-made concepts that have negative results, money is trouble. the lack of it causes want and suffering and the excess of it seems to lead to greed and boorish behavior.

I don't know much about that, honestly. I haven't lived in China, Cuba, Korea, Vietnam, or Laos.
But what does that have to do with France??

How is paying more taxes going to solve anything? High taxes are NOT going to create jobs. High taxes are NOT going to rescue the economy. High taxes are NOT going to get Obama re-elected. High taxes are NOT going to prevent riots. Low taxes will do all the above.

GOVERNMENT SPENT TOO MUCH OF YOUR MONEY!!!!
