US asks China to explain why it wants carrier

How rude!

The US Government will find other nations will respect them more if they lose the "we can have it, but you can't" attitude they have towards other nations.

It gives the impression they are concerned that China may interfere with their plans for world domination.

I can understand a powerful country wanting to project it, thats all good and fine but when it comes to the point of theatening that power then there are problems. Problems only an AGM-84 Harpoon can handle.

it is quite evident (from these forums) that American's don't like to be questioned, criticised and judged.

However, they will happly judge the rest of us (the rest of the world) and question them and criticise them.

having only one carrier, i would use it to study the weakness of such a military weapon.

it makes more sense for China to study how to destroy and neutralize this weapon system, than to go broke competing with the USA.

yesterday a program on the History Chanel said the US Navy has as many ships as the next 17 navies in the world put together.

considering that the UK, Australian, French, German, etc are all part of NATO, it should be why does the US think they need this insane level of military power.

the answer obviously is that our politics are corrupt to the dept of the possible, and that all this naval power is the result of our credit card spending.

a Liberian told me last year that the USA building a military base in his country, now made them a nuclear target.

with our corrupt political system, i see no hope for anyone until the politicians in DC go totally bankrupt.

Really? Do you have any proof it's not doing any good? Do a bit of research on how much the US pays for bases overseas. How much money the dependents dump into the local economy.

America's defense lines are its coasts. If we were to be invaded, it would be from the coasts. We only have 2 neighbors, Mexico and Canada. Its a good question. I think China is preparing to invade Taiwan and get the Spratly Islands. With the carrier it will definitely helped them. After all China was doing its best to be secretive about it. Casino ship and so on.

Im from the uk, and what do i think of our government and parties? All they seem to do is disagree with eachother, thats it!! One party says one thing, and the other party will say the Opposite. Im sure this is the same in America, right?

China has no reason to go to war with America. They have America by the balls, so why do they need to go to war with them. Really? So, you telling me that they are not getting a percentage of the oil in Iraq. You telling me that all the oil companies were already talking about it before iraq was taken over? It seems that America will only invade countries where they will get something out of it. But lets be honest, they left Iraq in a complete mess.

I believe they were going to invade iraq, and i believe they lied about the weapons. I am not the only one to think this. If America are doing this out of the kindness of their hearts, then why do they only seem to help countries with oil?

I agree, but you kinda have to look at it as being similar to the UK gun ban. The police have the guns, they "protect you" so why do you need one unless it's for nefarious purposes?

That is because they have not presented a threat to our nation militarily.

You do realize, if you believe the 19 arab hijackers story, that the United states was not attacked by a military, and if that threat is justification enough to invade basically 3 countries now, then EVERY nation that has citizens that don't like the US, that also has an airport, should be invaded immediately.

also, better get some boots on the ground in Saudi Arabia as most of the hijackers (even some of the ones still alive i believe) are Saudis
