Although I don't buy into all this apocalypse hysteria, some of what he does say is quite inspiring and true.
Would like your thoughts on this.

that's Floyd Red Crow Westerman (who passed away in december 2007). he was a native american actor/activist. he played 10 Bears (the chief) in Dances with Wolves.

the short is from a video called: the 5th Gate, which focuses on Hopi Prophecy, and has several insightful and intriguing folk that are interviewed. many of the topics revolved around time, as it is measured in epochs, as well as the doom we face, and what hope there is.

the movie was made in 2000 (before the 9/11 madness), and seemed prescient then. now it seems down right prophetic.

i have not been able to find the whole movie online (only clips like you have shared), so if you found the whole shebang, please let me know. i enjoyed it back in the day (i would rent the VCR from the college library. the college was in N.AZ near the hopi rez. that's why i figured they even had a copy in the first place).

now here's the kicker (for me at least) on the whole thing.
during one scene... a series of quick clips edited together to punctuate some point or other about our demise, there are images of rockets, presidents, dancing girls, etc. they all whirl by quickly... then, in one of the clips, ever so briefly, was a full-on grey alien standing there!!!!

it did not seem like an image from a movie, or any i recognize, and it made little context in the segment it was in. the hopi do have folklore concerning star-beings, so maybe it was a nod to that, but it felt very strange to me.

i would love to see this whole video again, so i can examine that scene one more time, so once again if you (or any of our ATSers) know where it can be found, let me know please.

thanks for posting. thanks for the memories.

oh... at the very end, Mr. Westerman answers what folk can do as this world passes from the 4th age to the 5th.
"learn to grow something" he answers.

simple as that.

Thanks for posting this video. Powerful message, on how we are connected with the earth, and part of the earth.

We humans have become parasites and have ruined the earth. And it appears mother earth is now fighting back.

Wise words from a wise people.

Everything is interlaced, each element and living thing depends on the next.

If a link in that chain breaks... look out.

Thanks for posting.

I dont really think that America is Doomed..

I suppose thats one way to look at the scenario. Does the Earth truly have any borders?

Some of the Hopi Elders have seemed to have spoken up. Saying that their culture dwindled to 800,000 from a 60mil (in the 1300's? [personal guess]) is a very sad tragedy for all to undertake. May humans not repeat this again. We are all one.

The scenery (red rocks) in the video was spectacular. You could live like a king there! just start digging

peace to all beings

OP, thanks for sharing this snippet.
Mythos, the documentary "The Fifth Gate" is produced by Milton Media, if that's any help. I cannot find it anywhere on line, not even for sale at ebay!
I agree with the Hopi (and other Native Americans) in that everything is connected and we all need to live our lives in a spiritual manner. I personally don't believe in the 2012 (or thereabouts) doom and gloom prophecy. I believe it's the time of rebirth, the beginning of a golden era.
As far as America being doomed, when I get "really downhearted" noticing the direction my country seems headed...I always try to recall George Washington's Third Vision:

If he really believes what's in his message than his people should quit whining about how they got kicked off their land.

Things change

Alot of people never stop to think how many Native Americans were killed by the Europeans and the Mexicans before America became a nation.

What is ignorant about it ?? For once i can agree with Kro, they really are far too negative in general, never recovering, never changing.

NEVER Forgiving, or Forgetting...unable to repair the broken souls, they had better figure it out, cause they are not going to reclaim nothing or be able to inherit a dam thing with the amazing self-destruction that is on display everywhere.

Exactly - nothing stays the same - all empires come to an end sooner or later - the USA wil not remain top dog forever - and forever will be a lot shorter as long as it keeps trying to rule the world (so to speak) and screwing itself over.

The reason they are complaining is because America has ruined this country. Besides areas that have been set aside it's hard to find a place that isn't polluted. That's what happens when you let corporations run things. And now these policies have spread around the world.

1st) when you refer to "they" are you referring to the indegenous peoples of the americas? that is a very large population you are clumping into a generality, with various unique perspectives, governments, views and idealogies.

2nd) do you know anthing about "them" other than what you have seen on TV? have you had conversations with "them"? worked with "them"? been friends with "them"? "they" are people, just like us, except they have a rather large blight in their not too distant past, that is in some regards yet to be truly healed. how can it be? the US has done little to nothing to acknowledge the litany of radical injustices that were done to a whole race of people... which brings me to three.

3rd) in the larger scheme of things, it was not too long ago that their cultures were decimated... i mean, basically there was a hemisphere wide genocide at the hands of "colonialization" and "manifest destiny". this is not something to 'get over'. this is a massive cultural trauma, that each individual nation will find their own way to heal.

shall the jews get over the holocaust? shall the african americans get over slavery?

4th) finally, do you not value what insight these cultures may possess? must the only worthy thing we hear in these strange days come from the mouth of the techno-cratic corporate r@pe machines. surely there is a wisdom in the warnings we are given... or do you think strip mining, mountain top removal and clear cutting are examples of shining human achievements that carry no reprecussions.

i realize i am being overly dramatic here, but as with the other poster i respnded to, i find your statments narrow minded and wholly insensitive.

do some research. read a book - "bury my heart at wounded knee" is a good place to start.
