2. to search blindly or uncertainly: He seemed to be groping for an answer to the question.
–verb (used with object)
3. to seek by or as if by groping: to grope one's way up the dark stairs.

–noun
5. an act or instance of groping.
6. Slang . an act or instance of sexually fondling another person.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Origin:
before 900; Middle English gropien, Old English grāpian, derivative of grāp grasp; akin to gripe, grasp

—Synonyms

EXPAND4. rape1 .
5. to make an assault upon; attack; assail.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Origin:
1200–50; Middle English asaut < Old French < Medieval Latin assaltus (replacing Latin assultus ), equivalent to Latin as- as- + saltus a leap ( sal ( īre ) to leap + -tus suffix of v. action)

—Related forms

I think grope adequately descibes the situation. It more refers to the searching part, than say, to the rape connotation of assault

time to really turn the tables on the TSA....everyone that goes thru a checkpoint at an airport should inform the TSA agent that THEY are going to be searched for illegal items, contraband, cigarettes, booze, etc....those schmucks need a taste of their own medicine.

The latest daughter of Rosa Parks!

Whew, this one really gave me a good laugh. This is the real America, people, the one that we love and dare defend on these boards.

Like the Austrian with the pasta strainer, it is a harmless way to make a very strong point!

If it is not harmless, then well done, sister! We should not be paying perverts to grope us. If it is considered assault, then assault is not a proper technique to use on citizens guilty of no crime, and one's title does not change the action as much as the government is pretending it does. Her action proves that.

I have tender places on my body, and honestly, if someone gropes me, the reflex action would probably get me arrested, too. But it's okay, because then we have a reason to discuss it in front of a judge.

What does the government expect? They forced us to go to school and learn that we have rights.

That is not going away. If our rights are to be taken, then public education about them needs to be optional, not mandatory, lol.

Or else this is going to continue. Three hundred million people can be patient, but this is still America. We have ways of correcting tyranny, and I hope she is charged with assault so this case can go before a court and be thrown out, deflating the pompous attitude of people supposedly charged with the important duty of keeping us terror-free.

I cannot stop chuckling. Thanks, lady!

We would have to prepare for the consequences, but yes, clogging the system would force quick change. Anytime air traffic is delayed or slowed, it is a big deal.

If every third person demanded their rights against search and seizure, the complaint process alone would shut down the whole system, quickly, lol. And legally, as well. LOL

I just went through security...

At Chicago O'Hare (ORD) and there wasn't one TSA "officer" that was "gropable," dare I say "fondable," or even worthy of a accidental brush of the the hand... Hell, none of them were anything to look at. I'm biased because I am subject to these indiscretions affronts to the U.S. Constitution often.... I get back to Miami tonight only to get up tomorrow morning and go back to MIA to fly to Atlanta. The herding, combined with frequent yelling ... Yes, yelling... Nothing says good morning like the neanderthal they have a the D concourse at MIA screaming about ID's and boarding passes... Nobody listens, and it's a clusterfornicate.

While what this woman did was against the law, and cannot be condoned, i am surprised it doesn't happen more often...

What is interesting about this story is

1. The government is forced to show its hypocrisy, it's constitutional to grope citizens but a federal offense to grope the TSA
2. This woman is 61 years old, is she just politically active for her age or is there some other motive behind this?
3. She not only grabbed the breast but twisted

61 years old and twisted makes me wonder if she did this to intentionally get arrested, sort of like how the man robbed a bank for 1 dollar and then was arrested so he could have his medical benefits paid for.

Either way this woman sacrificed a lot to show the government's hypocrisy she deserves an applause.

Great chuckle - thanks. Has anyone given any consideration to the though that just perhaps these might be average folks who are looking to earn a pay check? Pretty #y way, no question about it, but a pay check nonetheless. Not saying they're all boy and girl scouts, but I have to think that a fair share are just honest folks who leave work, shake their heads as they look at their reflections in their car mirror and then force it out of their minds because tomorrow night's dnner for the family needs to come from somewhere...

Any person that puts money above human rights is nothing but a puppet and deserves no respect from neighbors, friends or family. Simply put, they are traitors.

If the Govt. wants to state "You are either with us or against us", then the same rules apply to our fellow citizens when fighting for human rights and especially the constitution.

Jude! You need 500 stars for this! I'd give 'em to You if I could!

Thanks for making an excellent set of points.

As someone on Sodahead opined: "sounds like tit for tit to me..."

Freedom to Travel USA (fttusa.org...) is an organization dedicated to regaining freedoms taken away from us by the TSA. We believe that suspicionless unwanted touching should not be a condition of travel. We believe that being subject to the equivalent of Peeping Toms without cause should not be a condition of travel. We believe that exposing ourselves to radiation, however small, should not be a condition of travel. We believe that merely the presence of medical metal, in and of itself, should not constitute "probable cause."

Sounds to me like the authorities just admitted that the pat downs are sexual abuse, seeing as she's being charged with a felony.

They are TSA agent's! They have every right to touch you any way they please! It's for your own protection!

Pish. It's to desensitize Us to being herded, touched, prodded, and submissive. The probability of a terrorist on a plane? VERY small. One in 5,000,000, maybe? The probability of being assaulted - by hands or deadly particles - trying to board a plane? 100%

When they begin checking you for anus bombs, just remember, their only intention is to keep you safe! The added bonus is that you might even start to enjoy flying again!

I guess if You're into that... But I will not put it past Them to start the anal cavity searches soon.

Honestly, this is a great point. There is no way to fight someone's bodily functions, and it is just ridiculous enough to shed the right kind of reasonable light on this distracting and pointless strife.

How could they get around it, after all? And if the person is charged, it is just one more way to balance the power in our three part system, by allowing the judges a chance to rule on this according to real law, not the superimposed martial-law lookalike we are dealing with now.
