At the moment this is only coming from rightwing leaning websites, I'm looking further into this to confirm, but if this is true, this is just disgusting.
Larry Flint is sick individual for saying this, it has nothing to do with his ideology as far as I am concerned. If you want to make this about ideology, you're no better than him. regardless of ideology.
edit on 5-6-2011 by Southern Guardian because: (no reason given)

Funny. It's not about ideology, yet only the rightwng sites are carrying it.

Well it's a fact, not sure why it's funny? Simple google search right now will show that this statement is only appearing on rightwing slanted websites. Excuse me for not jumping on your train so readily, I'd prefer to verify on credible websites, not necessarily liberal.

For the moment I'm assuming this is what he said and explaining my position.

Where is the disgust on leftwing sites?

So Ill assume that because I didn't reply quick enough in my disgust, this is about ideology and I support what Larry said? Ok then. This is your logic? And you first made this about liberalism in your OP and in your title. While I find Larry's comments disgusting, it's apparent you're using this event to attack liberalism again. I don't see your agenda that much differently from Larry's.

Yah, pretty crazy how many people criticized her for exercising her choice. She made the "wrong" choice in their minds, to bring a less "perfect" life into the world.

So he isn't a liberal?
Hmm.
Just a dirtbag then. Fine. I just would like to see some parity here.

My OP, "Now I am sure that many of my liberal friends would be equally disgusted with this gross human being. The point I'm tring to make though, is not to lump all liberals into his category of hate, but to isolate a gowing trend of hatred that is taking place in America.
Ironic, that the party that preachs tolerance and diversity is the same that embraces a man who abhors a woman and her child because she didn't get an abortion."

It's refreshing to see many, if not most who espouse liberal ideology here, take a stand against this slimebucket.
I just wish there were more like-minded folks in the MSM.

Ooops, I mean Trig. Palins son who suffers from Down Syndrome.
In a recent interview he said this little gem. . .

“Sarah Palin is the dumbest thing,” Flynt told Johann Hari of London’s Independent newspaper. “She did a disservice to every woman in America. She knew from the first month of pregnancy that kid was going to be Down’s Syndrome. It’s brain dead. A virtual vegetable. She carries it to all these different political events against abortion, she did it just because she didn’t want to say she’d had an abortion. How long is it going to live? Another 12, 15 years? Doesn’t even know it’s in this world. So what kind of compassionate conservative is she? I don’t think anybody will want her near the White House.”

Ironic, that the party that preachs tolerance and diversity is the same that embraces a man who abhors a woman and her child because she didn't get an abortion. Funny also, that this dirtbag is a lump of flesh in a wheelchair, abashing someone with disabilities.
If this is to continue, then who else is fair game? If thiis to continue, then fine. I just don't want to hear the whining and gnashing of teeth from those on the liberal/progressive side of the spectrum.

Your thoughts?

My first thought is that you have a very odd definition of "liberal"! I wonder what Americans mean by that word? The guy's a pornographer who sexually abused his daughter. That doesn't make him a "liberal" by my standards! Is anyone who criticises Palin suddenly a "liberal"? That's just weird....
Mind, to an outsider, all Americans are arch-conservatives, and the people you call liberals would happily fit into our version of the Tory party!

Or does "liberal" refer to Milton Friedman type economics? Or do you mean "Libertarian"? That's the only way a pornographer can qualify as anything with 'lib' in the word...
He's wrong about Downs kids of course...

Flynt suffers from bi-polar disorder. I have met people who have this mental handicap at different degrees of severity, and Flynt seems to be either severe or deteriorating based on this. Statements like this may mean that he should not be exploited by the media. I don't know. I feel very bad for him and for Palin's child. Handicaps and disorders are tragic and misunderstood. Instead of bashing him for his sickness the way his words do Palin, perhaps we should understand that he is a damaged human and ignore outlandish things he says. The fact that his daughter accused him of incest means that either he is far more mentally damaged, or that it runs in his family and she is also afflicted. The things he said are entirely aweful. Hopefully someone around him can give him proper treatment - but it may just be a case of karma at work.

He espouses liberal ideology and slams the conservatives. In my mind, that makes him a liberal.

He didn't mean classically liberal, I'm sure. It has a different definition than the liberals of today. Of course there are people of any political persuasion who turn out to be dirtbags. I had a discussion with a guy who says he is fiscally conservative but more on the Libertarian side. He told me he thinks prostitution should be legalized. Generally, conservatives don't tend to support that kind of position. His argument was based on the concept of prostitutes not harming society in general and that the govt should keep out of private affairs. My impression of Flynt is not one of being Libertarian. It seems that he is in the business of actively promoting moral decay, and making a ton of money doing it. Just plain ol dirtbag is a good enough description. But face it, Hollywood is full of liberals who promote trash.

I know it is confusing isn't it

there was a big mix up here after the civil rights movement

Milton Friedman is conservative legend

John Lennon is a liberal Legend

Conservative think everything should have a cost

Liberals believe somethings transcend cost

then

Liberals think corporations should stay out of government

Conservatives think corporations should become the government

things like that

I don't care what ideology he is. The comment he made was unacceptable regardless. You obviously want to make this incident about liberalism. I really don't know whats more sad, the fact he made this vile comment merely because he disagreed with Palin's beliefs, or the fact you're trying to use this event as a way to generalize liberalism.

Yes... hmmmm.

Where is it in the liberal ideology that woman should be frown at because they decide not to get a abortion?? This is entirely your own here, generalizing people like me again. Liberals like myself support a woman's choice over her own body. Her choice is not our concern so far as rights go (morals on the other hand differ), it's the right for her to make a choice. It's not hard to understand.

I'd really prefer it if we can just both be disgusted at what Larry said as individuals, but unfortunately this had to made about "liberalism" and "ideology". This is where you get me at opposing sides to you. People like you do a good job of dividing this nation further.

You are full of it Neo, I wish we could have a fist fight sometimes...

You are constantly talking about the value and importance of business, the corporation and blaming all the countries woes on the government.( Do I have to quote some of your comments on other threads from today Neo, do you want to look like a giant as$hole???)

1.
If you had the choice would you rather there be medicare or private insurance?

Conservatives think everything should have a cost

2.
OK Neo, should I get rushed to the hospital if I start dying and be tended to, for free until I recover or die?

I say YES

Case closed

thanks

See, that's conservative

Everything has a cost

A life, a pizza, or a house are no different here

There idea to fix the healthcare problem is to eliminate the government and allow insurance companies
to dodge law suits when they screw up

Considering this news just came out, it's going to be some time before it reaches other sites, but yes, continue on your partisan bickering. You make yourself look no better than Larry in agenda.

And yes I'm a liberal, you'd do yourself more of service by not attacking and generalizing my beliefs before I post.

but they have no problems taking them over with taxpayer dime and telling them how much they can make and who can run them.

how many corporations did obama take over?

yeah only morons do not think about where the money comes from in this country do whatever you want and not think of the consequences of their actions.

I think we have condemed his words beezzer, I am not sure what you want, I'll go and punch him too if you can get Neo to back him up!

I think you are only seeing this on rightwing sites for two reasons, my speculation

A. Lefties do not like Palin and might get pleasure in things that pain Palin, therefore they stay silent because they reckon she deserves pain.

B.Righties can use this story to inspire more hatred for lefties and possibly get out the vote due to the
anger they feel at liberals

o the champions of the rich and corporations are the ones destroying the Middle class Neo... The wealthy are getting wealthier, it's a fact, your argument is fake....

we both know that is bs the government is and you know it those rich getting richer bs is the fact they said goodbye to the stupidty in this country.

I am sorry Neo, survival is not an issue once you break a certain level of income, another fake argument.

when people constantly try to keep taking revenue thus destroying your capacity to generate your own revenue that is the very defintion of survival then add the total and complete government control of how and where you can do business..

agian people like the last 3 posters are in control of this government and that is the problem.
