I am never a fan of these music threads, but I'm glad you posted this one!

The "good" rap, and the "good" country music are more similar than people realize. Both of them have folk, and political, and societal roots. Both of them tell the real story for the people out living in the mix. They are the best indicator of how the population is truly feeling.

Music has never been wrong. There are trends in music that are always 100% prophetic for the direction the country will turn in the following decade. There are sociology majors and music majors that do dissertations on this phenomenon. The music never lies. You just have to know who and what to listen to.

IF you're only familiar with the rap that gets played on the radio, you're really missing out, especially if this speaks to you. There are some extremely talented and brave lyricists in underground hiphop.

I grew up on hip-hop, but have become disgusted by it in the past 15 years or so (besides my musical tastes have matured). I'm glad a mainstream rapper said what needs to be said. Last time that happened if I remember Jada Kiss said something about 9/11, and it was watered down. This rappers lyrics are really tight and you can tell he is aware or in-the-know. Surprised really, because most artists that say these things are underground. To be honest I doubt this will get much airplay, and his mainstream career will probably be over. Underground artists like Dead Prez have been saying things like this for years but get no love on the radio.
