Tea partiers say defense in mix for budget cuts

The schism within the GOP is philosophical as well as generational. Paul's son, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, 48, a tea party favorite, says all spending should come under scrutiny, from food stamps to foreign aid to money for wars. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., 74, a decorated Vietnam War veteran, worries about the rise of protectionism and isolationism in the Republican Party.

Wow, there may be some hope after all. Admittedly I'm a tad conflicted, I see this as quite positive since I am anti war but also have been quite skeptical of TPM. I'll remain neutral but just tossing this in the mix so you all can do what you do best.

Wow. This is great for all the soldiers on food stamps. Seriously, the defense budget being cut is a not a completely good thing. The soldiers at the bottom of the military pyramid get it the worst because they are expendable slabs of meat to the top brass. Their pay cuts come first before everyone.

Now, if this is to reduce our costs when it comes to failed stealth jets then by all means, they should cut away. Although, GE just got their top man working in the White House and seeing as they are a defense contractor, this will all blow over as the White House will push hard for no cuts to the defense fund.

I think they should cut unnecessary spending first and foremost.

Heads Up: Soldiers' families have to go on food stamps because most of the money goes to mercs who get a minimum of $1000 per day, and military companies run by guys like this guy...

At this time, I would be quite wary of this statement. Just exactly which part of the military budget is that they are willing to cut? To date, the TPM has displayed a problem when it comes to budget cuts and specificity and as usual, this statement is rather vague.

If they are talking about reducing our funding to military armament suppliers, (Industrialized Military Complex) then I'm all for it. If they are talking about working towards a goal of Zero nukes worldwide, then I'm all for it. On the other hand, if they're talking about reducing benefits of military personnel, (which I'll bet they are) then I'm totally against it.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Not to mention the $47 billion spent on a stealth jet that isn't meeting the government's standards. Do you know how many people can be fed by $47 billion?

Democrats are NOT anti war, they are anti Republican.

This is the lie that has been perpetrated for years.

Now that the Democrats are in power, "War is good".

Problem is, that the leftists or the neo cons are all about setting up the one world control apparatchik. They have been for it all along. As Bush was control, so is Obama.

Indefinite incarceration. Problem is, it is indefinite except for those that should be indefinite. Just as our civilian incarceration is.

edit to add-What the Neocons and the Progressives are is really STATISTS. They both want control and they will attempt to implement all matters of CONTROL.

Read Ayn Rand.

What, you do not like Shakespeare?

You do not like 1984?

You do not like anything that breaches your little WORLDVIEW?

Funny that I am more of a Fiction fan than a Non Fiction, because someone that writes non fiction, you have to try and differentiate between their VIEW of what actually happened and the effects given.

To this day, I only quote ONE instructor or professor I have had. It was his opening lecture. The course was US History. His lecture in a paraphrased and shortened version was this-

Any non fiction or historical record, must be taken with a discerning eye, you must remember that all historical evidence and record must be perceived as subjective. You are getting the material through third parties. You are getting it through the eyes or views of those that wrote it, plus through the filters of those that are giving the information.

This was a two part lecture of 1.5 hours each. It was the most important lecture I have ever had. Maybe you should take it to heart.

Perhaps I should re-phrase. I'm not a fan of her fiction. It reminds me of the bible, another book based on utopian fantasies that people adhere to.

Yeah, MARX is a writer of fiction, but that seems to permeate the brain of many pseudo intellectuals, even though the FACTS always end in the SAME situation. Tyranny and oppression.

But glad you do not like ONE set of books based upon a writers imagination.

Or more succinctly a quote by my idol Napoleon:

"History is the version of past events that people have decided to agree upon."

And my favorite just for youski: "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake."

Tell us how well the Dem Repub debate is doing.

Just sent an email to a rep in my state about keeping track of ISP addresses and told him how privacy is a RIGHT.

How bout you, you send an email stating that a Computer or $10/month internet connection is YOUR right? Hmm, look into the FCC regulation just instituted by the fed.

Hmmm, you going to say that my labor of creating a house is YOUR right also. How bout the doctor setting your break, is that a right also? How bout the right to steal your labor for the right of the government union pensions, is that a right also?

You can blather on and on about these supposed rights, the government has ONE duty, to make sure YOU are not stolen from by others. Hmmmm, how is that going? I think ol Obama has instituted vast theft of your labor for his buddies at Goldman Sachs and AIG. Hmmmm, how you feeling about that?

You folks are kinda funny, hey, can I take 20% of your labor for me? Maybe that would be alright too?

Who do you think is pressing the politicians to push ISP schemes??? Really?

The socialists? and Commies here on ATS?

You know why they are going through the government??? Because it is currently ILLEGAL to break certain privacy protocol; ISP tracking and all the related industries are a new revenue stream. So while you cite freedom,
these interests work tirelessly to secure a new division, technology to control society, again who do you think
greases the wheels in government? ME? (I wish)

You know on average I have to send in medical claims two to three times to get my doc paid -

Do you know how much cost that adds to the equation my friend? My doc has to spend $7 extra for each claim
and lord how much the people who fund the pool have to pay... Did you know this is POLICY - a way to SAVE money and SPEND MORE MONEY to justify more in premiums. I cannot even print the back end policy here to
PROVE the scam that is happening, because the legalities are so severe. You are looking at only half the equation and this is why your ideas are doomed to fail, kinda Like Rand or Comrade Lenin

Sorry, you do not agree with me, so therefore you agree that people can steal my labor. Therefore you are a slavemaster. Thanks for telling us the truth, that you think I should be a slave. By the way, us slaves tend to get a little extreme.
