non-religious militias, is there such a thing?

all you really need is about eight people four to lay down suppressing fire, and four for either the left or right flank. whoever decides to tag along for these fire missions is an extra militia member. i'm not a fanatic but i try to use listening skills the best i can in the company of fanatics. i do believe that if there is another revolution, or civil war, that choosing a few best friends to fight by your side is militia enough. if you have common interests or common learned trade, then that is something you have with you in peacetime. i think there should be "Mario bros" type militias that go around fix plumbing, cars, do landscaping, and help protect each other. you can murder over religion but when you run over a rock with a riding mower and break a neighbors window, you can repair it, and give the guy your business card. the times we're in are tough and we might face an insurmountable enemy but it's an enemy we all face.
