I'm getting sick of the "E.T's attack the world" movies, there are too many... if I want to see a space warfare I watch space operas, or play Mass Effect.... that's why I really enjoyed science-fiction movies like "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"...

Cool Trailer, i think i am gonna watch this one. But i think Hollywoods mind manipulation in movies is by far more dangerous than the sci fi story behind this movie.

I remember reading in a book somewhere that Spielberg got the idea for ET the movie after meeting with some high-ranking officials at the White house during a party.

So in Hawking's probably extensive network of scientific luminaries he may have heard through the grapevine some information from scientists working in special top-secret projects.

"Spoiler"

I just have to say - this movie was complete crap! The special effects are "awesome" but it can't make up for the rest of it. Terrible acting, terrible story and for the entire movie you are stuck in one apartment building.

Think - War of the Worlds meets Gears of War meets Matrix meets Independence Day with a really crappy ending.

In the movie itself - you never see or hear anything about a signal being sent into space! In fact, you never learn anything about the aliens at all except for the fact they like brains still attached to the spine.

Now, I like the whole hostile alien invasion thing - but - this could have been so much better!

Wait for it at Redbox, really!

Concur with the above post. Just back from the cinema.

I like alien invasion movies so I was optimistic going in for some dumb fun, Unfortunately this was bad, really really bad. The special effects were good but cant compensate for the dreadful script and one of the worst, most half cocked, endings in cinema history.

Avoid till you can get it for free. Such a wasted opportunity. Sad.

Yep,... the movie had great effects
and yes the acting was b rated at best.
Poor quality writing,.
But,. I will say it is the first time I have ever seen the aliens win.
They pretty much had no problem dominating this planet..
District 9 was an Emmy winner compared to this.
