Truthfully? I think we need a total reset. And no, I'm not joking nor am I being sensational. Unfortunately, the only real way to obtain a total
reset is to go through a total collapse and that's where people begin to feel the pain of going without for awhile and start saying things like:
"Oh, it wasn't that bad...."
The problem is, it
is that bad.
Things are too out of whack across the board. There are way too many people in bed with other people and there aren't enough elections fast enough
to get them all out at the same time. Even leaving 1/3 of our current politicians in office doesn't work. The newbies learn the ropes from the ones
that are there. Things are so tangled together there is no way to even try to sift through it all and have it still make sense.
Anyone foolish enough to think that voting out a handful of congressmen and a handful of state representatives does anything deserves what we are
currently paying for. Republicans, Democrats....they are all the same at this point and only looking for one thing: survival as a politician no
matter what it takes or what they have to say to accomplish it.
Entitlement programs can not be saved. There are not enough payers and way too many takers to maintain status quo. It is riddled with fraud and we
don't even have enough money or resources to use to clean it all up. We would literally need to stop paying and have everybody reapply in order to
flush out the fraud. In absence of that, things will continue to spiral downward.
Continuing as it is now, we will end up with two classes in about 50 years or so: poverty level and rich. The rich will then determine yearly how
much money the poverty-stricken get [formally known as entitlement program receivers + middle class that has been wiped out] to live and it will
escalate from there. That is certainly not the future I want for my children. It will be the modern day version of slavery. Now, they try to hide
it at least -- imagine when they no longer will even bother.
Transparency is a joke. There is no way to have a transparent government at this juncture because there are so many back room deals, questionable
military maneuvers, missing trillions of dollars, campaign backers and financiers -- hell, 9/11 alone will prevent us from EVER having a transparent
government without a total reset. There is no way to say: "From here forward...." because it is all based on what happened in the past and they
certainly don't want us to know all of that! You can not justify our current military / defense budget without having to look back -- never gonna
happen.
We've got the government owning businesses -- banks, cars, houses, etc. -- that alone should be a huge red flag that we went the wrong direction.
The government should over see, make recommendations, keep companies on the up and up -- but never have a financial stake in anything nor should the
government ever stand to gain anything from a disaster, bankruptcy, etc. -- it's a total conflict of interest and leads citizens to question the
motives of every decision -- something that should be prevented at all costs since that is where the erosion begins. Losing faith in the government
is now a habit and it's not a good one.
It's kind of like a game of Ker Plunk at this point. There are no more sticks to be pulled without everything coming crashing down. All we are doing
is propping up the sticks that are there and hoping they hold for one more day; trying very hard not to shake the foundation one little bit.
Eventually they will give way and those that want to fight for what this country should have remained, will fight. Those that are happy with the
status quo and could care less what the big picture looks like as long as they turn on their TV and see American Idol and pull-up to McDonald's to
get their Big Mac fix will go another.
Just my 2 cents which is probably about what it's worth.
Edit to add:
So I'm not misunderstood, this is not an Obama problem. This is a problem that has been building for decades. Obama has escalated it in my opinion,
but it certainly does not all fall on his shoulders alone nor am I saying it should.
