Outstanding post Easynow. So when Oberg has trouble tackling a subject such as the one mentioned, he resorts to that type of tactic, pathetic.

He now stands corrected on the plasma beam.
No plasma beam is ever connected with UFOs.

Sorry for bumping this topic guys. Im hoping someone has more info on the case- so far this is what i've gathered from research.

Based on the Florence J Mansmann letter, we can establish multiple things.

(a) That contrary to The Air Force's lie, Lt. Jacobs actually has worked at Vandenburg.
(b) CIA/MIB Involvement was indeed disturbingly real, however their roles or identities besides confiscation of evidence is unknown.
(c) While the incident occurred and Major Mansmann agreed with what happened, it is unknown what the object was, or its origin.

This case is probably in my eyes one of the most solid ones to date, but it leaves us with many questions.....

My assessment? Exactly what it says in your CSICOP link

"Both Jacobs and Hastings mention SAC Major Florenz Mansmann Jr., who was the photographic support coordinator for the First Strategic Aerospace Division at Vandenberg AFB. I have reviewed post-retirement letters purported to be from Mansmann, and they indicate that he agrees, in general, with Jacobs’s conjectures. He passed away, according to Hastings, in 2003."

In other words, that Mansmann and Jacobs are agreeing with each other, telling the truth in my opinion.

However, i will not go as far as to speculate if the craft was from outer space.

All I have to say on the incident is that i feel while a missile was shot down according to the testimony from both, its unexplained what shot it down.
