Well they are the only ones doing it in the public as far as I am aware.

Then you are aware of vey little and your opinion should be swept aside as the utterly ignorant opinion that it is. Just go to London for a night and experience some of the straight clubs. You will find bondage is very popular among the straight demographic. And that is the tame side of sexuality. If you want me to shock you then i will happily do so, but you are opening the lid of sexual behavior and i doubt you are able to handle it.

Also many people feel uncomfortable having homos in the same house as they are often very extrovert and attention seeking.

Many people? Please provide statistics to back up your statement. Also your view of gay people being extrovert and attention seeking is again horribly ignorant. You will have passed gay people in the street and they are not obvious, indeed most gay peopel are not obvious! They do not walk around like Graham Norton. The fact you believe this shows a further ignorance.

It's pathetic.

yeye it is pathetic and sad and buhuhu

the point is that people SHOULD be allowed to CHOSE who they let into their establishments and not have to let anyone in just because there is a moronic law demanding so.

Oh i see so if the peopel decide something then they should be ignored. Despite this being the basis of democracy, just because you decide it is disgusting.

Oh well, forget democracy, forget public opinion, such things are ridiculous no doubt

I would state again that these people knew of the law and when they opened their business they accepted that law. Are people to accept laws and then refuse them whenever they see fit? This is like me agreeing to pay for a loan on a car and then saying i don't want to pay because the law is unfair.

Democracy? what are you on about?

Have you heard about this little thing called freedom?

Then I assume I have the right to come into your home and sleep in your bed whenever I want because this is democracy according to you?

Or I should be able to be a NBA player even if I am shorter than 2m , or I should have the right to fly the space shuttle even if I am blind because this is the basis of a democracy?

Wow, I can't believe this thread is being kept alive by people so socially retarded that you would want to deny your fellow human equal rights just because they're gay. GROW UP YOU HOMOPHOBIC CLOSET CASES.

People make me sick.

The difference is that my home is not a business and so i am not subject to the laws that deal with businesses. You again show your ignorance and stupidity.

Again you are talking about private organisations in comparison to public organisations. The people have decided that businesses cannot discriminate in regrads to sexual preference and so we apply that law. Sports teams are a choice, you don't have to be a basketball player, being gay on the other hand is not a choice.

It's odd you are unable to grasp these very simple concepts.

I agree -- sort of. I am gay and I also hate being in the same space with attention seeking extroverts; except that I don't like the straight ones who are that way either.

And as far as this thread topic is concerned, perhaps "annoying" people is one of the few kind that would rightly be ousted under the "right to refuse service" thing that businesses have at their disposal.

The sexual orientation of the annoying person(s) would not be allowed as a factor, however.

Originally posted by ImaginaryReality1984I will say that more clearly. The people have decided upon a law that they think is just, a law based in logic and not emotion, this is the essence of freedom and these B&B owners are seeking to ignore that law.

"the people" have chosen no such law- a distant liberal/left establishment have chosen such a law.

I think this B&B owner is rude, but I don't think the law should dictate who this B&B owner allows to stay- these two whining ninnies should have found somewhere else to stay

The NBA is more of a business than some person who rents a room out in their own bloody house

I actually think this woman is rude, but it is her B&B and her place to be rude- these two fools deserve scorn for involving the police, a summary of our retarded times all round

At the end of the day - that woman should have every right to refuse them if she thinks their behaviour is disgusting.

I'm fairly open minded myself - but i can see why some people wouldn't want homosexual activity taking place in their place of business and residence.

Sadly equality isn't equal and homosexuals are protected more by the law than people who are against this kind of thing.

In other words... Equality isn't equal.

You mean if she thinks their behaviour "might" be disgusting. They hadn't done anything yet except show up (together). What is so disgusting about that?

Does she interview her straight guests ahead of time to determine the sexual positions they intend to use that night in order to decide if it falls within her limits of tolerability?

Probably not. Your notion of what constitutes equality and fairness is more than a little warped. I am having great difficulty remembering now how you got onto my "friend" list now.

Must be you are not all bad.
I will be sure not to make any broad sweeping generalizations about you, this time.

Equal rights in the context of "they're gay so they must leave'
yah, you just can't do that with a business.

Your inability to form a coherent or legitimate counterpoint sickens me.

A fair comment - maybe i was a little harsh.

But all i'm saying is... To live in a truly equal society - surely the woman has the right to her own opinion - for wrong or right?

It's her business after all?

Not that i need to defend myself - But i have gay, bi and lesbian friends... I work and socialise and study with most of them - so i don't have any issues, and if i ran the B+B i wouldn't care if they wanted to paint themselves green and attack each other with rubber hammers - as long as they paid the rent and didn't wreck the place.

Yes, we all have a right to an independent opinion -- but when to express it and when to keep it to oneself is sometimes more than just a matter of discretion; it is actually a matter of law; especially when it involves denying someone a service.

Having said that, I also believe as I stated in my first post on this thread, that sometimes its just not worth the aggro to contest every time you are slighted. I suggested then that this issue is anything but clear cut.

You know, there is principle, and then there is reality. I can live with the fact that the two are sometimes discordant.
