jon venables/james bulger

I guess this would only really interest our UK residents.

With all the furore with whats going on over Jon Venables' recent arrest, the rumours in Liverpool of who and where he his are rife at the moment.

My brother in law today told me that he is now called (though probably not for much longer) David Calvert, who lives in Fleetwood near Blackpool. Then over the day more people told me the same name.

So after a five min Internet dig I found this:

This article was five years old and says that a guy called David Calvert is living in fear after being accused of being Jon Venables after he told a neighbour that he was in prison as a youngster. I don't know how they made a connection from what he said, because strangely enough the article doesn't mention it.

So anyway, the theory goes that this david calvert was arrested for downloading child pornography. And when the neighbours got wind of his arrest they told the media who this guy really is. The government just clamped down and banned the papers from telling us the whole story. Why is anyones guess.

Just thought I'd share it. No doubt there are tons of other rumours, but this one sounds quite plausible.
Any thoughts....?

Hard to say really, i realise that the guys real identity will be out there somewhere, probably not for much longer mind....but what with all the media being banned from revealing his identity and the secrecy surrounding it, i'd steer cleer of this.

Thats just my opinion though, and i appreciate that you are only passing on what you've found elsewhere.

Also....this guy in the article had two kids when this story was written, Venables has been put inside with not a mention of children.

Thing is, people have to be so carefull of who they accuse of this kind of thing, we had a local guy who had been videoing kids who were running riot around a nearby estate. Someone got the wrong idea and he ended up murdered.

Spare a thought for a young man called David Calvert who was 'outed' as Jon Venables five years ago.

Now his name is all over the Internet again.

Scouser Mr. Calvert, 27, was threatened and abused and feared for his family's safety when neighbours were told he was one of James Bulger's killers.

Police even installed a panic button in his home in Fleetwood, Lancashire.

The clamour eventually died down when he was interviewed by his local paper and opened up the family album.

Published pictures of him growing up, crucially between the ages of 10 and 18, convinced even his most neanderthal accusers.

Wouldn't the authorities give him a whole new identity though? Including his past? He wouldn't be able to live a normal life if he had no history to fall back on.

It's strange though as the article you posted was almost written in the past tense. There were no up to date quotes from david calvert, and just seem to repeat what was in the piece that I linked.

I'm not saying for one second that it is him, just that his name has popped a few times.

NO it most certainly isn't david calvert from north blackpool i have met this guy on a night out. He ISN'T VENABLES! the fylde coast is a very very backwards place i consider it the UK's hick town personally i bet this guy has been through hell for NOTHING!

...UPDATE - he's been chased out of town! those F**KIN SICKO CODHEADS!!!!!!
