All it would take is for a couple of major electoral rich states to pass legislation requiring Presidential candidates to provide a valid birth certificate to appear on the ballot. The would prevent foreigners like Roger Calero, candidate for the Socialist Workers Party, from even appearing on the ballot.

Roger Calero, who was born in Nicaragua, was not even eligible to become President, yet still appeared on the ballot.

Requiring a birth certificate is all that is needed to confirm the minimum age and natural born status.

If Calero got on the ballot, it should be no surprise that Obama got on it also.

Bring it right down to the state level! It only takes 1 state to do this. Then we will know the truth, once and for all!

For balance and fairness, I like this reply too! Nice rhetoric! You guys probably have a lot in common. At any rate, neither of you are Goliath, who is the real enemy here. Save it for him, Davids!

And why oh why doesn't he shut us all up by showing us the "long-form" birth certificate?

Because it will notshut up the birthers, it is not about a piece of paper... where is clinton's and bush's long form certificate?

And why can't we see his parent's marriage certificate?

Where is Bush's and Clinton's marriage certificate? What has that got to do with anything?

And why can't we see his college records?

What has that got to do with anything? Where are Clinton's and Bush's college records?

Funny how you never demanded the same from Bush or Clinton - oh, they were not black!

Wow. I guess I must be all of the above, even though i actually liked Obama at first. Then somewhere during the campaign, I started to see that it was all pretty words and no real meat and substance to it. I didn't find out about the B.C. issue untill after the election. It intrigued me. Trying to find out the truth was a pain because there were lies on both sides. snopes would change their information to what ever Obamas people were saying at the time and there was a lot of discrepancy. One day it would list the name of on hospital for Obamas birth, the next it would list another, leaving me to lose all faith in snopes.
Now, I am not saying he is was born in Kenya as a fact, but I can't help but wonder. When someone won't release their records, you know they are hiding something. Who knows, maybe it has nothing to do with his place of birth, but maybe it does. since I have yet to see tangible evidence on either side.I will remain with my current theory that he is not a natural born citizen.

Just for the record I figured I should throw in the fact that I am not a republican, and far from racist. The though of McCain being our president scared me even more than Obama. I probably would have forgotten all about it, had the fact that he won't release those documents not sent major red flags up for me.

That sounds very rational. But that's the sunny side of the story. Consensus is often just as much a control function of the elite as it is a means of distributing the resource of rationality evenly among the people. When consensus is no longer determined by rationality, but only by membership to an inbred intelligentsia, it has stopped serving it's purpose altogether, and instead serves the decay and suppression of rationality. Just like the way affinity groups become conspiracies once tradition outweighs integrity.

I'm glad you clarified that... I can think of at least two other issues wherein the term "birthers" is sometimes used to describe the conservative side... Abortion and Gay Rights.

Yeah, damn those goddamn birthers to hell, how dare they choose to have babies and all!

Ahhh....the typical Liberal reply...don't answer the question...divert attention or redirect.

Oh, and by the way, I'm not a racist -- I only criticize BHO on his Mother's side.

I would say that not all "birthers" fit this description, but some certainly do *cough*Orly Taitz*cough*.

For some, it's pure racism pure and simple. (oh they won't admit it in a million years, but it's true.)

For some, it's deep seeded hatred for the Left.

For others, it's because they hate the government so much that anything that discredits that government appeals to them.

So it's up to the individual "birther" for the reasons they follow this insane pseudo conspiracy theory.

all of your answers/reasons are totally wrong. I realize it is just your opinion because the facts wouldn't support those responses. People just don't give a crap that Obama happens to be black, so the racism card doesn't fly at all.. The race card is only used by "self victims" that use race as an excuse for the "wounded duck syndrom". That has been quite easy to see by everyone except the deluded individuals using the race card every chance they get.
Using labels to describe groups of people have been used for a long time, but in the past few years it has become a pretty effective means of discrediting and ridiculing people that ask too many questions.
Birthers is a word that has no integrity because it wants to describe people the label referrences by assuming they are deluded and mindless idiots. (for asking too many questions) forget that those questions could be legitimate... The need for a label like "birthers" would not even be needed if the questions being asked were answered without deception and dishonesty. It is so easy to see that you have serious resentment towards anyone who is against your favorite politician, even if that politician is lacking in morals, honesty. integrity, etc. etc.. This also says a lot about your morals, integrity, etc. etc. That is the sad part.

I couldn't have said it better, your opinion or take on the matter is the same as mine. I hated the Bush years, and knew almost from day 1 what his agenda would be! Going after Saddam and Iraq! So along came Obama preaching change, goverment transparency, getting out of Iraq and all those cool sounding promises that I bought into hook, line and sinker! Well I was naive to think that just because a man seems different, talks different and promises change there was no way it would be more of the same, and dare I say even more so! And then the birth certificate thing comes along and everything about his past being so hidden in secrecy that everyone in the country(at least us racist birthers) is like Who in the hell is this guy? But according to Dereks and the op we are crazy, delusional and my personal favorite, racist, to think this way. He certainly isn't who he said he was and that much is obvious. So why not question anything else he claims since so far he has proved nothing more than a well spoken teleprompter reading liar. And I know whatcha thinking A lying Politician? No way! Your right I was conned! But I still don't think asking questions and having doubts about a man who promised a change puts you in the category of advanced delusionary schizophrenia with involuntary narcissistic rage! Does it? Maybe since I'm narcissistic I shouldn't answer a question I ask myself! I don't know for sure if the prez is telling the truth cause the only way to tell if Obama is telling a lie so far has been to see if his mouth is moving!

Who is trying to do that? Arnold Schwarzeneggar?
I mean, he is the only one that I know of who wants that removed from the constitution.

You see, there is a difference between conspiracy fact and conspiracy fiction. It is a fact that Schwarzeneggar wants the U.S citizenship clause removed. I think that the idea that Obama is a foreigner is a fiction.

If it turned out that obama was actually a swedish citizen, not at all american, would that represent a security problem for the us? To me it seems like home-bred americans can be (and have been proven to be, time and time again) just as much of a threat to US security and national interests as any foreigner. Are righteousness, ethics, efficiency, loyalty and leadership qualities particularly american traits? Have any 'truly' american president ever displayed all these qualities? Not really much complex rhetoric in these questions, just curious really. I have a feeling it will be gratified. The curiosity, that is.

Explanation: I'm quite sure that EVERYBODY is covered by the DSM-IV [wiki]

In particular and IMO, I find that people fall into two basic and generalized demographics....

1] Those who are psychotic....i.e. those who think 2 + 2 = 5 is reality....

AND

2] Those who are neurotic....i.e. those who know 2 + 2 = 4 is reality but find that completely distasteful!

Personal Disclosure: Im one of the later but I am considered the former!
:shk:

P.S. I think the Birthers are the same as me i.e neurotic ... they know Obama is and can be the POTUS and that just galls them no end and makes them SPITEFULL!

Simply saying something doesn't make it true.

If it REALLY were about truth - you would have shut up a long time ago when the birth certificate was produced.

Or even later when the news paper clippings were shown.

Or when the states officials confirmed its authenticity.

But nope, that 18 wheeler of idiocy will keep on trucking well into the night, always ready to fight, but unfortunately, its drivers will remain totally clueless as they rock back in forth in a dark corner, clutching their bibles, seething at the idea of Barack Obama.

Oh how wrong you are:

even this very website contains hundreds of posts that accuse Obama of "blingin out the white house"

among various other things.

Racism was astounding in this election.
The only people denying that are, as the OP suggests, suffering from some sort of mental illness (amnesia perhaps?) or closet racists themselves.

NOBODY is saying that not agreeing with Obama is racist (except for obama detractors who are making it up to make themselves look like victims)

BUT

Reasonable human beings ARE saying that if you go to a protest with signs or tee shirts like or similar to the ones depicted in this post, or if you rally and say "Obama is a MUSLIM. Obama is a KENYAN. LIke it is some how a sin to be either......

*snip*

there is no other way to slice it

Modern society is a vortex of radical evil from which no society will emerge because instead of aiming to transcend material and look toward the creative, soulful, ambitious side of life, modern society settles into endless bickering over redistribution of wealth and equality. It is as if humanity agreed to be hung up on its negative traits, and to fight over small matters, while ignoring the future that we can have -- and while ensuring us a doom through a system that by promoting material self-interests, guarantees we will consume our environment and ourselves. Modern society is at its essence a failure to see the big picture, mostly because of the "mass revolt" of option-limiting individual materialist/humanist morality , coupled with the technology that allows us to detach from our natural worlds and build a fantasy world of our own illusion. Modern society is going inward, an emotional and psychological reaction of withdrawing, instead of accepting life's negatives (death, natural selection) as part of a beautiful process and moving on to better things.

What you've just typed is what I've been saying for post after post but the birthers will NEVER address these points. They'll either derail the thread, leave altogether, or start new threads rehashing the same old madness. It's pathetic actually, and as I previously mentioned in a birther thread that was deleted hours ago by the mods, this site is enabling these insane individuals to act out their aggressions and run amuck.
