Their believable moving speeches would crush the fake propaganda disseminated by callous warmongers. It's good to see some soldiers speaking out at the visible wrongness in this current situation, however even with the vouch of these people, things are unlikely to change.

That being said, had I heard his speech in person I would've clapped, and probably with a lump in my throat.

Sure man - people just like you are not your enemy - you would not not fight them. So, in order to foster public support for a war against any given nation that nation, and its people are demonised. They are portrayed as evil, as lesser, as inferior, as evil, as tyranny, as terrorists - and every, single time the public just falls for it, over and over and over again.

That is racism - seeing Iranians as terrorists, Iraqis, Muslims, Islam, as terrorists or evil is racist. They are no more than you are as a while Christian.

This is why so frequently throughout history peoples who have lived peacefully side by side, sometimes for centuries, can wake up one morning and feel an eternity of deep seeded hatred towards their neighbors or friends - incited by political propaganda.

You are all victims of it.

Pure and simple bud - hope this makes it clear.

I would like to say that I find it a strange twist thrown in this thread that you would think that veterans wouldn't accept this information due to some kind of pre-disposition. Let me tell you, as a veteran, I see Truth where there is Truth...and bull# where there is bull#...and I call it as I see it!

Yes, this speech is very good.

What he describes is practiced by all large military nations. They need to put situations in the form "Us Good and Them Bad" or else the soldier will not fight. The question is though, is the soldier getting truthful information

Being one of the vets that post here on ATS, I disagree. We never want war. We never want to kill. We never want to die. We especially don't want to do it for the sake of someone who just wants more money...(esp when they already have more money than us!!:lol

We do it only out of loyalty. I agree that our enemies are right here in front of us. But our enemies also understand that THEIR enemies(us) are right in front of THEM too...it's a mexican stand-off and I don't have a clue who's on my team.....
