remember this: they need to understand body language and facial expressions as well.

*shrug*

Content from external source:
"The creators of the Child-robot with Biomimetic Body, or CB2, say it's slowly developing social skills by interacting with humans and watching their facial expressions, mimicking a mother-baby relationship. "

Or for those who prefer video, here's a US grup doing something similar:Einstein robot

The point here is that these things don't need to be programmed. Create a neural network, give it a feedback system and the network will teach itself how to do all the things that we as human beings are able to do.

I don't suppose many of the robotics researchers realize it, but what they're doing is creating life.

But for any machine to mimic the actions of humans enough to act as our general servants, a'la R2-D2, C3PO, Robbie, Data... they have to be able to communicate on our level, even if that level is filled with flaws.

you build a computer that is stationary ; for fuel and up/down loading of path/task/sightglass .

3 class's of robots that plug in , up/down load data for path , see the world as it is ( sightglass) , do the data (task) , and return after failing or success .

the operator talks to the computer ; op loads task , the computer adds path and talks to the robot , the robot is the sensors , arms and ears of the computer .
during the up/down load phase ... tasks are deleted from the task list in the computer or rescheduled for another try , the vertual world is updated as to path profile changes in the real world .

MDI = manual data input : remote control is not a robot , guided devices with MDI capablitities are decades if not hundreds of years away
