Yep the photo has been lurking around ATS for some time now but i am not the best to direct you to the appropriate threads.
Anyway i am not sure if the threads were specific to this photo only.

From what i recall these airplane designs were greatly influenced by the UFO culture. However the design were not very efficient aerodynamically while manoeuvring in implementations such as these,
i.e. modifying traditional airplane designs... into UFO airplanes...

Good luck !

I knew I'd seen this somewhere. I went through google images with the string of "USAF" "UFO" and found the AVRO.

I have no personal knowledge about this aircraft. cheers!

As far as I can remember this is a photoshop and the original photo is lurking about some where, I will try and find it for you.

Yeah, I've seen that and similar photos. During World War II the US Airforce conducted some experiments in disc-shaped craft. Overall they failed horribly because they were extremely unstable in flight. Unlike now, they didn't have the computers that could compensate for the craft's stability issues. For example, the stealth fighter and bomber both are horribly unstable in flight, but have onboard computers that make constant minute adjustments to keep it stable.

Yes it is photoshopped. THere is a thread here somewhere with that photo side by side with the original photo showing conventional jets and bombers. The discs were photoshopped over the real aircraft.

WW2 Messerschmidt, Germany had some interesting prototypes, the Me-163 was a first type of fighter jet.

The Go 229 jet aircraft was even more ahead of its time or weirder if you like.

And the alleged Haunebu type of craft.

Is that last one supposed to be a real picture?

Yea the picture was photoshopped to reenact what someone said they saw while in the military. There was just a documentary on it a few weeks ago, I can not remember what though.
