Yea with 4 thugs on top of him???
They deserved it,and there will be
more and more of this handed out to
the corrupt cops. They believe they are
untouchable,but people are getting sick
and tired of these uniformed criminals
doing what the hell they like.

So there seems to be a general desire for anarchy and lawlessness worldwide. OK. Fine. I'm 6'6" and 280 pounds with very little fat. I have guns & ammo, I collect swords and knives and have been in more than enough bar fights to know how to take most people down. If the world comes to what most of you appear to want, it will be you little girly boys living in mommy's house with your tough-guy eyeliner and tight girl pants that die first. And you little men that wrap yourselves in big trucks or those stupid Hondas with the loud exhausts to make you feel bigger. People like me would probably last considerably longer, but they would get us too eventually. Then any woman you ever cared about (girlfriend, mom, sister, daughter) would likely face being raped or abused in some way - what the heck, no consequences and no one tough enough to stop it. They would be murdered after the whole gang has their way with them and gets bored. Very quickly in your "utopian" society of no rules and no consequences it will just devolve into many groups of loose knit gangs of thugs fighting for supremacy and robbing, raping and killing whoever they want.

Sounds lovely.

Personally, I would rather live in a world with laws and rules and people who enforce the law and accept that sometimes the innocent are affected. I know, I must just be one of those older, weaker sheep. Stupid me.

This is why I don't get involved in political discussions anymore.

truth be it i beleive that justice or revenge is not down to us to deliver.
vigilante law? what gives cops the right to enforce what they think or want? a title authority and uniform handed by our official polticians means its ok?
wake up! we've tried understanding, reasoning, co-operation and its all failed the only thing that works with humans is a short sharp shock.

As said several times before, this happened in Switzerland, in 2004, in a friendly game between a Portuguese and a Swiss team.

Those are not policemen, the title of the video is wrong, they were private stadium security.

Off-topic PS to all Portuguese members: from what I have seen there have been at least five Portuguese members active on ATS at any time since I joined in 2004, I think there is not a place where we can't find a Portuguese.

The Cops did nothing wrong, what looks like a punch in the face is actually a jab with a small baton and its used to make you stop doing what you are doing, like not putting your hands behind your back when told to do so. If the police let everyone do what ever they wanted, then what would the point of a Police force be? Everyone is lucky the Cop being beat didnt pull his firearm and start taking people out. When an Officer is down like that and people are kicking him in the face (it is considered deadly force on the part of the kicker) then the Cops are allowed to use deadly force in turn. Alot of you are bashing the cops without knowing exactly what is happening and I am not saying that there are no bad Cops but I am saying that you shouldnt attack the people who protect you without sufficient evidence.

They are not cops, they are private security guards.

I don't know if they are allowed to carry weapons and if they had them, if allowed.

As its been said, Whos to say the Person was not still resisting? We can't see.

Just because somebody is on the ground doesnt mean they just gave up and let the police cuff them.

Unless you have physically chased, dropped, subdued, and hand cuffed an irate and Intoxicated person, I don't think you have any right to tell people if it was done right or not.

I also notice there is a LOT of footage of Soccer games turning into riots. Whats going on? What the hell is wrong with these people.

In the end, the Police didnt target and beat down a completely innocent Bystandard.

Please go back and read the posts before you make your comments. If you had I don't think you would be saying these things in defense of absolute turds.

You think it's ok for for cops to tackle the guy and lay the smack down on him? You must be one of them bullies. Listen, two cops could have taken one arm each and calmly escorted him off the field if they were trained to calm the situation rather than to escalate it.

And who said he was an innocent bystander? What is wrong with you making such stupid assumptions?

Look, the guy did not hurt anyone and it was not a serious crime. It's like getting beat up by 4 cops for nothing more than jay walking. You get four thugs on your back and see if you won't struggle for air.

The turds got what they deserved, and if you were there helping them turds, you would have got your attitude adjustment too.

The nerve of some people.

Bull droppingsl! He was cranking the guy in the head with a jabbing motion, Yes, using his baton, which puts more force in a smaller area and does way more damage than a fist. Your statements do nothing for the turds defense.

Ya, Ya, rent a cops with batons....so what?....very likely off duty police officers. Who cares? They work a soccer stadium and should know better than to go four on one to lay the smackdown on a man for what he did. They over reacted, over powered, over bullied, and over stepped the bounds of what we as human beings accept as fairness, and they went too far. Anyone that supports them needs a good slap.

Yes we need law enforcement, but not ruthless paramilitary thugs.
What this situation needed was a simple escort off the field. One cop on each arm telling the guy he had his fun and now it's time to go so the game can get under way. IMHO, 100% the guy would have gone peacefully.

Here is how I would have handled it. Intercept the guy and don't pull him to the ground and say, OK, OK....(laugh with him) ha,ha,ha,ha.....that's very funny sir....but we really got to just wave at the crowd now and let the game get under way.....please sir....come this way....(turn and give a victory wave to the crown....big ear to ear grin, and two cops escort him off). End of story. And don't come back suggesting what if the guy did this or that, bla, bla, bla. The guy was there to have some fun, not to hurt anyone. If he got violent after what I suggest, then four guys carry him off the field laughing and waving to the crowd.....still no violence.

I have calmed many. MANY violent people down in my life. I usually do it in a matter of seconds, just by using the right words, expression and tone.

Sure, accuse me of being a Nazi. That does so much for your argument.

All I said was that the crowd was wrong. There is no right to run onto the field in the middle of the game. There is no right to moderate the police or security personel. There is no right to riot.

That was unnecessary what the cops did and what the fans did. I am serious, the fans stop them from hitting the poor guy and then they turn on the cops? The whole point is not to become what your enemy is. As soon as they got the coips off they should have stopped. But I am not putting all the blame on the cops, that idiot should have not been on the field in the first place and with the recent attacks on soccer players and stadiums and fans, who knows maybe the cops had reason to do what they did. I mean do you know if he had a bomb on him or not, that sort of thing. All in all do not become what you fight against. Disban the situation and end it.

[edit on Apr 5th 2009 by TheMythLives]

haha? really? So it's normal to check for bombs on people by stabbing them with their baton?

Anyway, Its good to see people standing up. I don't agree on what they did to the cops afterwards, but to be honest it somehow feels good to watch them get their asses kicked..

When someone bases his opinion on the behaviour of a police force on the works of private security, I care.

It's not right to accuse the police of brutality because of the acts of private security guards, even if they are policemen in their other job, they were not acting as policemen under the orders of the state, and that is a big difference.

Anyone that supports them needs a good slap.
Yes, and anyone that tries to distort facts should at least be advised not to do it, right?

Forget, i think most of the members here don't read all posts before reply.

IMO before we reply, we must read the other posts and be objective about the facts, not starting assuming things. In this particular subject, start pointing at cops. I'm not defending them, i know that cops do things like this and worst. But in this video, they are private security.
