Question about alien "Greys"

I'm not much into the whole alien thing but I was curious as to where the commonly accepted physical description of "Greys" originates? Movies? A book?

I just got through watching "UFO Hunters: The Greys Conspiracy" and told a little about where general concept and visual came from. It was contested that most explanations of the Grey physical description came from media, C.E. of the Third Kind. The counter to that argument was the fact that the Hills describe the looks of the Greys around a decade befeore.

So it could have been the media exposure, could've been from real abduction experiences, or even from cave drawing depicting what appear to be a modern day description of the Greys (cave drawings were also brought up in the "UFO Hunters")
