Gunman shot dead after murdering 15 victims

A 17-year-old gunman dressed in black opened fire at his former high school in south-western Germany today then fled in a hijacked car, killing at least 15 people before police shot him to death, state officials said.


The gunman entered the school in Winnenden and opened fire, shooting at random, police said. He killed nine students, three teachers and a passer-by outside the building, officials said.

As sad as this event is why is it that such attacks take place in mainly Western nations. And the fact of where the populace can have guns, to be followed by the cry ban guns after such events.

I have long held the view that such events are cuased by others with the sole pupose to remove the individuals right or access to legally held weapons. A populace that cannot protect itself is a dictatorship pure and simple. In the end criminals will have guns, terrorists will, the police will and so will the armed forces but the people will not.
