Russian Troops Advance in West Georgia

Russian troops have entered Georgia from the breakaway region of Abkhazia, as the conflict between the two neighbours appears to be broadening.

Moscow said its troops had reached the town of Senaki to stop Georgia from attacking Russian forces in South Ossetia, another breakaway region.

While Georgia continues to press for a ceasefire, Russia shows less and less inclination to limit its field of operations to the troublespot of South Ossetia. You have to now wonder whether they may be intent on trying to annex Georgia itself, at least until they can instill a puppet government.
