Morning all!

This morning I find myself enjoying a day of work, I wake up early and think to myself that I might as well waste a bit of time on the net as its raining cats & dogs outside.

I have recently installed PeerGuardian 2 and this loads up everytime I start up my laptop. I was amazed to see the amount of IP's it was blocking this morning.

(sorry at this point I have been trying to get a screen print to show you all but dont seem to be able to do this! If anyone could tell me how I would appreciate it!)

Anyway some of the addresses that stood out to me were as follows:

Ministry of Defence - Source 192.168.1.65.1106 -destination 194.126.213.78.500

China railcom beijing -Source 192.168.1.65.3875-destination 61.233.88.42.13599

I also had a lot of universtitys and about 6 other Chinese names all being blocked. Another one that stood out was called AAFES BARRACKS when I googled this it came up as the United States Army & Airforce exchange services.

Im not that suprised about all the Chinese IP's showing up but why on earth do I have the MOD and the United States Military looking at my laptop?

Its the first time I have ever seen these IP's show up on PeerGuardian, and now im concerned as I spent all night reading up on John Lear & Bob Lazar on the net.

Maybe they have been right all along and now I'm in danger as I know to much!!

Or just maybe im being paranoid?

I thought all of this was quite intresting, does anyone else have expereince of this? Or does anyone know exactly why this is being done. I mean if you dont have any IP blocker running god knows what info these guys have access to!

All the best

Paul

aafes could hardly be described as a government body you should be woried about. its basaicly a gas station or general store on military bases. now china and the ministry of defence is interesting...

i would like to see what an computer expert has to say about this..

Oh thats good then the AAFES dont sound like to much t oworry about. Whilst Im typing this im still blocking loads of hits from the MOD, pretty tempting just to disconnect at the moment. Just noticed that an IP being blocked is named Abovenet Communications I hope thats nothing to do with ATS will have to check it out.

In regards to the China issues. I have a sneeky feeling pretty much every machine hooked up to the net will have been looked at by a Chinese hacker.

When you think about it all this stuff we hear about a cyber war between China and the US could be a pretty bad situation.

it would seem that most pc's would have this problem i think i should look into that blocker. might be interesting to see who is looking through my pc. its 5am though hopefully some one who knows more will wake up and fill us in..
dont know if you googled any of this yet but here is a link for abovenet.

www.abovenet.com...

Well the only thing I really know is that I know nothing!!

Well at least think I do anyway! Still on some level it would not suprise me if people who look at ATS and other similar websites are flagged on some low level by goverment....... just in case.

We should get some more people to try out the software and see if its happening to anyone else. Im pretty certain it will be.

Im not here to sell but PeerGuardian 2 is free just google it and download it.

I would love to know how big an issue this might be.

Regards

Paul

Thats great let us know how you get on.

You may find that once its installed your best to allow HTTP and just block IPs. I have noticed that sometimes a lot of websites wont work if your blocking the HTTP.

Good luck

You would be surprised which IPs get blocked while using PeerGuardian. Those addresses that are being blocked aren't usually the ones trying to access your computer. If you're using a torrent browser/downloader, and downloading a popular file, there's a chance that the file is hosted on a goverment computer from another country and your computer is trying to download that file from them. Mostly, you will always get those blocks if you're downloading Anime.

If someone were trying to access your computer, I would suggest getting a firewall, because peer guardian does very little to block a hacker.

I have a full security package which I use all the time. my firewall is always on anyway. I know Peer guardian is no use for protection really, but I find it intresting because of the names it provides.

On another note I have not been downloading or seeding anything in weeks. I have just checked utorrent and I have 0 files uploading/downloading and Im still seeing the same IP's coming up on Peer guardian.

How odd? Im not very technical in these matters but shouldnt IPs only try and reach me if i was downloading/uploading files?

Paul

I read this and immediately popped up my PG2 as well.

Luckily, no-one is trying to get into my computer. Not that I know of anyway.

My educated guess is that if the MOD did want to access your computer, you would be completely powerless to stop them and more than likely never know about it.

Maybe the MOD tag is just some smart ass hacker making himself feel all important.

Ministry of Defence - Source 192.168.1.65.1106 - destination 194.126.213.78.500

China railcom beijing -Source 192.168.1.65.3875-destination 61.233.88.42.13599

These are not legitiment IP addresses.. Even if IPv6

Where did you get the information, ie Ministry of Defence, China Railcom

what is the .1106 or .3875? Port numbers?? If so its ment to be :1106 / :3875

:1106 - BSX Trojan, isoipsigport-1 (Battle Net Gaming)
:3875 - BSX Trojan, Fight Ace II Default, F-22 Lightning 3 Default, F-22 Raptor Default

Ok, I will drop the last digits..
194.126.213.78 - Croatia
61.233.88.42 - Beijing

To me, it sounds like you play a bit of online gaming, possible aircraft gaming? .. Would explain the military for a start.. Some Chinese military gamer, bored on the net during lights out.. ?

No gaming either. Only use my laptop for email and web surfing, download the odd file but not very often.

This is word for word from Peer Guardian

range: Ministry of Defence
Source: 194.126.213.78:1257

Destination 192.168.1.64:38735

This one was blocked about 3 minutes ago.

Now as I have said im not very technical , all of the above could just be rubbish. But this is exactly what is being quoted when I look at what is being blocked.

Honestly I agree it might not be the MOD! I guess they have better ways and more important people to snoop on. but the whole thing is a bit weird and I dont have a good explanation for it.

Cheers

Paul

Sounds like open source garbage. Not sure where they get their IP info from, but IANA dont acknowledge this address as MOD.
Not sure why Phoneix Labs thinks it is. Sounds to me like histeria

IANA is the regulatory board for public IP addresses.
BTW 194.126 is an address from Croatia

Wouldnt worry, What you got to hide? Just make sure your ports are closed.

Sounds like they are gamers trying to contact you tbh

Oh, and get a physical firewall/router.. Block it at a lower layer level, not application level

* Listen,

The Internet was developed for our use- be it to learn, to communicate, to surf all the wonderful sites out there, in short, it is a learning tool.

Dont let any spooks deter you from going where you want and reading what you want.

As for me, i'm a grandmother with bouts of arthritis
and if the government deems me a "NATIONAL THREAT" so be it. I dont care who watches, who sees where i go, I just dont care. These are the times we live in and we better get used to it, i suppose. We go to websites in search of knowledge, and even if they are "following" our movements, "they" have to realize that WE are in search of knowledge BECAUSE this world is so screwed up lots of us are looking for answers.

I have the right to have an answer. I also have a right to be respected and if some whack is following people around, well, its just a way to earn some money, i guess.

Dont pay it no mind.

On a side note I heard many people do spoofing out of China because the US has no jurisdiction, ofcoarse that would mean intelligence also.

I wont tell what happened after I started getting pings from Virginia area and China. I will hint, headlock, needle to back of neck, hypnosis druggins. other little nasties ect ect...

Good Luck and God Bless

another point , you say you are not doing any P2P or torrent transfers NOW , so what ? thats irrelevant - because some servers do not get updated as fast as they should - and think you still have a given file / file segment available - and direct hits to you - so P2P " hits " some from the person trying to D/L it - do you think the individual soldiers / personell @ defence establishments do not use P2P / torrents ?
stop being so dammed paranoid
