Now, juding by the nice results of the previous survey, many people are reasonably happy with the current state of the site. However, we are not content to sit and relax, far from it.

This next survey is shorter than the first and asks some more meaningful questions to help us understand our users' point of view in regards to increasing quality content on ATS.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

As always, responding to the survey results in 500 points.

Results of this survey will be posted tomorrow.

Done.

Good questions all. The level of Mod influence, and on what, is probably a key area that requires some more critical thought.

Thanks for the opportunity for feedback and the incentive William!

William,

ATS needs more heavy handed moderators..

To fight of silly posts and posters..

lol Blade!
you have 7,000+ points and you're worried about titles??!!!

anyways William, I just took the survey and left a rather long "comment", hope you enjoy!
(you can post it here if you want too...)
I must disagree with MA, I personally chose the level of reward for good posts as my answer to question 5.

For example, there is one TWAT every month.
Applause is used more often for posts on inter-board issues, and not used for conspiracy related sites.
I for example have four appreciation points (I think), two from my Nessie thread a couple months ago, and two from that ATS Content Patrol thread.
That's half and half...kind of makes you wonder...

Also, newbies rock!
If we don't have newbies, we don't have a board.

Cheers,
- Tass

i dont think ats needs more heavy handed mods. maybe it needs a few mods on bts. to keep the load lighter on the mods we have now..

but i dont think heavy handedness on bts is a good thing.. on ats sure trolls and spammers and offencive people should be delt with after warning swiftly.. but on bts i think it should be alot more lighthearted..

not people who scare members away LOL! I do think that some mods are slackers and that leaves the heavy moderation to those left like Alien, NC, JB1 and a very few others are always doing the heavy modding..doesn't seem right to me.

Maybe NEW moderators could replace the slackers or sleepers?

Tassadar

1. So did I. Where is the disagreement????

2. For emulation by others, there is no such thing as a TWAT. The acronym is T.W.A.T.S. Award: (The) Way Above Top Secret Award. A winner of it can be one of the TWATS, but never a TWAT.

Silly people make childish pranks about it. This was not intended.

I support what Queenie said, for reasons magestica would understand as well.

And I think magestica has a very good point. A couple of Mods are seen no more than semi-annually, which is no criticism, but it's hard to get to know them.

Interesting statement coming from the masked man himself..People/members may not care to be known for reasons I'm sure masked himself can agree on
But I do agree about the mods that don't really involve themselves like what *ADVISOR* just did..perfect example of perfect modding.

Advisor is the like one of the most involved mods here. He even took part in the freestyle thread! Now I'd like to see some of the more prudish mods do that!

I didn't participate out of sympathy
no one would have survived

Pretty easy.

1) Posting something who has already been posted = - 100 pts.

2) The next time, - 200 Pts.

3) The third time, -300 Pts.

4) FIRED !!!

I always use the search button before I post a new topic

Best way to stop the silly posts, is to set aside an area for that to be in and to state it stays there not around the forum.

Also trying to stop the silly posts(confess of doing so here) Makes the site look unapproachable and too elitist. That then makes people wander away out of fear of being seen as 'stupid' by comparrion.

Not a nice site image to have I'm afraid.

Also bear in mind, it is in the end all down to personal taste. One wo/mans silly reply is another wo/mans holy grail.

A moderator should be active but all should follow the same rules. Keeping personal choice out of it. Impartiality and fairness is down to being a good moderator.
Corruptness and open to bribery is down to being a good admin.

i don't know the 'style sheets' of the admins, but i think it would be great if people were moderated for getting into personal battles that have nothing to do with the thread.
or people who post "i don't know", or "not me" or other non contributions. noise filters are what i'm talking about.
i don't know anything about running a discussion forum. not me.
