You know what? It pains me to say it. But it does look like this at times...the lazy locals. Maybe incompetent can be added to that too.

Where I work (tyre factory) there are a large number of Poles, and the personnel officer has told me that they had no choice but to hire from further afield because the locals tend to be, unfortunately, poor timekeepers, prone to long bouts of sickness and generally lackadaisical. You could almost say that without the migrant workers, my job would no longer exist for me.

Many Poles and Eastern Europeans are hardworking. Just remember though, organised crime and the such is extremely rife in such places and a free passage to the UK will not help us what so ever. Infact I can see a rise in crime such as identity theft, forced prostitution, thefts and violence. The majority may be decent and hardworking, I am not denying this. But IMO, we really do not need poor countires clinging onto the EU for dear life.

As for me, well I think the UK is a sinking ship. A small hole in our hull slowly being ripped open further by an influx of water. I plan to leave the country for greener grass in another field when I feel fit.

I agree, but it seems that such schemes that are the product of the minds of men are to be implemented regardles.

So we've established that there are scummy people from all communities and all walks of life, it's a no brainer really, how patronising to think that someone who's not British/brown skinned/muslim etc was born with a prediliction for innocence and right action. The problem remains as always that 'racist' has become such a stopword whenever somone/something connected to ethnicity is challenged or questioned that any freedom of discusion is inhibited from the start.

There is a truth to the fact that black on white racial abuse is tolerated and excused within our society, it's a fact and it stinks not only because through ethical cowardice we fail to challenge racism and those who practice it but it also gives fuel to the far right.

im ashamed of what britains become now people can take the P*** out of the system and get away with it, since weve joined the european union britains become a dumping ground for vermin and im sick. maybe if thatcher hadnt broke all of the working class we may have been stronger, 3 more yrs and im setting sail for different shores, i hope everyone else with sense does the same coz i dont see this problem going away.

Fred was actually referring to a comment I made earlier. As you can see I made bold the section which I think is relevant. I said I would move to greener grass in another field- more of a pun of the old saying.

Of course I am aware no country is perfect, it would be naive to think otherwise. You appear to live in the U.S, you do not have 'free' health care, just look at the number of health visitors who go to the U.k to claim free treatment as it is- just an example of how stupid we truly are. Link.

With the Eu taking in more and more poor countries- a free border would be implemented where poor people can move fairly easily through countries. With free health care and benefits who would be mad to not want to go!

So talking of the green grass of another field- I would mean somewhere out of the EU!

Knight, I don't think a National Healthcare system will be set up like European countries have in the US. We may have a new system though, but not like other countries. The United States is very paranoid about becoming too socialistic or communistic. And the motto is "You take care of yourself". Meaning the welfare programs aren't the greatest. That does seem like a problem, the EU. I wonder how you will solve that.

Maybe the UK can join with the US and Canada, and we can have our own Union . Of course Islamic fanatics in the UK won't work well in America, too much anti-Islamic sentiment here. I heard that was a big problem in England...

They seemed to be quick to place the blame on white racism in this incident in Preston but I wonder if they even bothered to investigate whethere this may have happened as a result of instigation by the 'Asians'.
