This starts out talking about 'the superman curse' and goes into the
alleged curses of other movies as well. I didn't know about the
Superman curse, but apparently Hollywood actors do and that's
why they are all 'busy' when any talk of working on a Superman
movie/series comes up.

Of course ... Dean Cain seems to have slipped by the curse - but
perhaps because he didn't play a grown up superman?

George Reeves, the television Superman of the fifties, was found dead with a
gunshot to the head in 1959. The death was ruled a suicide, though others suspect
murder. (He'd been having an affair with the wife of MGM exec Eddie Mannix.)

Thirty-six years later, Christopher Reeve, who played Superman in four movies
between 1978 and 1987, was paralyzed by a riding accident. He died two years
ago of a heart attack related to his injury.

Several other actors involved in the Superman series of movies have had bad
luck. Margot Kidder suffered a temporary mental breakdown in 1996, a result of
her bipolar disorder. Richard Pryor developed multiple sclerosis, Marlon Brando's
son was charged with murder and his daughter committed suicide

I don't think Superman is cursed. I DO think Polterguist was/is.
The article discusses that curse as well. Read more at the site -

Dean CAin did play a grown up superman. Primary colored spandex and everything. Does anyone know what happened to Jimmy Olson, or the guy who looks just like J. Jonah Jameson?

More interesting info related to the Superman Curse:

Years ago, when my mother was a young woman aspiring to Hollywood stardom, she dated George Reeves. She said he was very often very, very depressed. Which of course would make a suicide quite likely.

I grew up in Hollywood Hills and learned alot of legendary stories about the stars. I read that back in the '70's, the folks who bought George Reeves home would sometimes hear the TV going at 3 a.m. or so. After having checked many times, the TV was always turned off when they went to bed, yet would come on again early in the morning. Superman was always on the TV when it came on, yet there were no listings for Superman in the TV guide.

Is there a curse? I dont know but I do know that there has always been much weirdness/bad events associated with Superman.

What, you mean two people connected to one role 4 decades apart both have completely different tragedy in their lives and out of the other hundreds of people connected to this film/tv some have issues/personal tragedy.....
OMGosh, you say 'curse' I say CIA conspiracy....maybe Margot was correct!!!!

Dun dun duuuuuuun.

Sorry FF, i know you said you don't believe it so my mocking sarcasm is not aimed at you, more at the fools who believe this

Christopher Reeve did not die of a heart attack, he died of an infected bedsore that made his body toxic. Ala Toxic shock, or toximia.

I have a hard time believing the Superman franchise is cursed. Now Poltergeist, Craig T. Nelson and the Actress who played the mother seem to be doing fine. However the other cast have experienced loss and stuff.

I used to be obsessed with that Movie Series, I even had clippings from the News Paper, about the young lead's death.

Zelda rubenstein still does well she does cartoon voice overs, and spooky show voice overs.

Now Poltergeist ....

Exactly. If Superman were cursed there would have been many more
things ... along the lines of Poltergeist.

Poltergeist ... absolutely!

Interesting stuff... And what about Tom Welling AKA Smallville?

Just one more thing, why would there be a curse on the whole "Superman" industry? Shouldn't there be some sort of eerie story of love and hate and ghosts that is the cause of the curse?

This thread doesn't spook me nearly as much as the OP's avatar.

Holy sheesh.

I sure hope that isn't real.

They say Bruce lee was cursed but that was conspiracy so I reckon its superman that has a conspiracy not a curse

I used to joke about a superman curse stating the same facts you did. Then I'd add the fact that the only difference between the actors' names is the S-and "S" stand for Superman.

Mabey the Poltergeist behind this curse got bored with the superman and moved on to Batman. Batman is a much darker character than super man.

I heard the rumour that George Reeves died by jumping off a building thinking he really could fly. Superman played chicken with the Earth.

Do you think the super hero thing has been done to death by Hollywood?
