Shields for tanks?

Ok i got thinking about shields.. similar to those from space movies.. but for ground units.
If the research were to go ahead, what method would be used to shield a tank from incoming attacks?
some sort of magnetic pulse shield? Lasers that track missles and bullets and break them down into nothing before they hit? some sort of supper charged radio wave blast that knocks back projectiles?

Anyone have any thoughts on how this would be done?
It would be tricky no doubt im just curious

Shields were once/or still is used on Artillery guns, The modern ones dont seem to use them as much as they did back in WW2 like the 25 Pounder Gun

They were sort of last used during the WW2-1960sish era and sort of still are but mostly round then anyway.

This is as close to a "shield" as you have with todays tech. Tomorrow who knows...

yeh i didnt mean shields like the ones on pak-88's etc.
i mean like plasma force fields that deflect any incoming projectile
