I guess time will tell.

He's not somebody i would vote for put it that way.

Given his past antics and rhetoric.

It's all about the hyperbole for George and by my guess he's capitalising on the death toll in Gaza, and playing to his audience.

Then again that's what politicians do as its their bread and butter.

I agree on the point you made about the death toll in Gaza.

And this can be seen on the number of votes he got recently

members.parliament.uk...

More votes than Conservatives, Labour, LibDem, and Reform, all put together. If he stands again in Rochdale he has very good chances now I am thinking of it.

See what i mean by playing to an audience.

End of the day through, whats he going to do for the people of Rochdale would seem to be the salient point.

Is he going to adequately address the likes of the social housing emergency?

Or the antisocial behavior issues that plague the town in question?

Getting elected off the back of his stance where Gaza is concerned is one thing.

But what is he actually going to do for his constituents, will he effect real change and address the austerity?

I certainly hope so if he wins, but i strongly suspect it is just all hyperbole and hype, given his track record.
edit on 24-5-2024 by andy06shake because: To many "actuallys".

It's very difficult to address the issues you mentioned without the cooperation from all other political parties. What can a single MP do about austerity? On antisocial behaviour he could have an impact I believe. On local projects he could have an impact too.

Austerity and poverty have had a great impact on the lives of poor people especially at places like Rochdale. These areas probably will not vote for Tories ever again. Not that they usually vote the Tories but there was some deviation in the last elections to get Brexit done...

To be honest, the first time was rather a shock to me.

And to be rather frank Brexit does not seem to be doing what it says on the tin, or rather the side of Boris's bus.

If that's not a sh@t show of epic proportions, I'm not quite sure what is.

Oven ready my arse.

Unless it was a cremation furnace methinks.

Enjoying the conversation and debate Ernestc but i really need to go get some work done now.

Ile check back later, and see where the thread is heading.

Have a nice day.

Paula Vennals.

I have been following this and her evidence.

"I don't recall".

"My recollection is that I don't recall".

"I'm not a lawyer and that was all done by Legal, nothing to do with me, I was only the CEO".

"Who, me? I never knew about any problems with the Horizon software. Oh, I was sent a damning report from our lawyers about non disclosure? Was I? I don't recall that".

"Some bigger boys did it and ran away"

(Takes out onion and blubs).

She and the PO prosecutors should do prison time.

Simples.

If there was any justice they all would, Ed Davies too.

I hope he wins it , the reason he's served Islington for so long is because he cares and fights for his constituency , I wish I could say the same for my MP.

Not a Corbyn supporter but Starmer was wrong to expel him and the many others he's purged from the party.

Starmer has made Labour credible and electable.

I think it's more a case of the Tories have made the Conservatives Un-electable , like Blair this "New Labour" party is profiting from 14 years of Tory failure , now it looks like we're going to get 5 years of Labour failure and uncontrolled immigration ... as if it isn't already.

Rats and sinking ships springs to mind.

They'll be off to enjoy their new positions in the city and corporate directorships backed up by a healthy tax payer funded MP pension whilst the rest of us struggle to keep our heads above the mire that they created.

They'll blood a new crop of smug, arrogant, careerist twats ready to repeat the process once Labour pay the price for 14 years of the Tories bleeding this country dry.

Sad thing is, I'm sure Labour will them with their own brand of incompetence and wilful ignorance.

I absolutely loved his book Everything I Know About Teaching.

The most sense he ever made... I'm glad he's taking a note out of that book!
