These events piss of Putin, and he realises he does not have control of the people like he thinks he does. They have to be taught a lesson, and show them that only he Putin can protect them from outside enemies of his country.

He can clamp down on movement of the Russian people for 'safety' now, flood the streets with even more 'brown shirts' and dehumanise the Ukrainians and west even more, whilst trying to blame them.

If Russia had publicly warned Biden of a potential terrorist attack at a concert venue in DC and Biden blatantly ignored it...and the attack occurred...would the American people be so forgiving of Biden?
