Rooms inside Westen Soule's Connecticut home were allegedly filled with an illegal "drug factory" that was worth about $8.5 million, according to police. (Connecticut State Police)

Looking at the pictures, it's unreal the amount of shrooms this kid had.
It's like the entire house was there to store mushrooms. There isn't much else to say about this, other than the jaw dropping amount.
Sorry for the caps in the title, but in this case, I think it's appropriate.

Ridiculous.

There's no good reason plants or mushrooms should be illegal.

Yea, when I saw the picture, I thought, "wow, I thought he would be older".

But you have years to recover. Just stay positive!

Those bags are inoculated substrate, probably rye grain or corn. So not mushrooms yet, but it's a couple of steps before pinning and flushing.

Either way, this guy was cranking them out or was at that point in production before he was busted.

That's quite a bit of work to do on your own, especially the fact that all those bags seem to be in the same stage of growth which means he inoculated all those bags at the same time.

Accomplices? It's possible.

Oakland, CA. recently decriminalized magic mushrooms.www.npr.org...

Grows of this scale and higher are in full operation within the city limits of Oakland.

Yea, but each bag of shrooms should come with a guy who isn't tripping so he can assure you there is no dragon guarding the bathroom door. Currently, I don't think they do.

I have no reference to any of this, but the pictures of inside the house, and shelves full of bags of shrooms looked like an awful lot.

Today he goes to jail, in a few years, who knows what states will legalize this.

It takes a lot of dried mushrooms to make just a pound. That center bag in the laundry room looks about right. That's the reason why you have to grow a lot for it to make sense because they lose so much of their weight from the drying process.

Kid was wanting to make some money, that much is evident. Definitely not a "personal" grow. But ~$8 million?? I don't think so. Maybe ~$800k.

As a fellow mycologist, I have to admire his set up and efficiency for such a young guy. An operation like that can't be known to ANYONE, you have to be solo all the way and act like it doesn't even exist. It's a discipline most, especially at his age, can't maintain.

Mushrooms have remarkable theraputic uses.

Shame the recreational trippers take up the bulk of resources.

One of the pot dispensaries I visit here in Riverside, California sells Magic Mushroom & mushroom products from time to time.
