Who’s making these decisions?
Politicians.
Who makes decisions in your state? I guess laws just magically appear there?
Parents of children in need of specific medical care.
This may be another one for the courts.
Nobody interfered with me giving a 6 year old Ritalin.
That depends on the "when was that in time" part. I think it is frowned on these days.
Better point — I had an excellent doctor who knew what he was doing. He supported modification (too long to explain).
Specialist doctors/psychiatrists are needed for these kids.
Eventually, it will be a specified field.
Each child should be treated individually is all I can say to any medical assessment or treatment.

The ritalin could be the cause for some forms of precocious puberty
A change in hormone levels and brain chemistry is associated with this, and precocious puberty is what most "doctors" are prescribing hormone blockers for, even though the medical science suggest that this only compounds the issues and if researched you would find that they (hormone blockers) do not treat the symptoms. Which is why am so baffled that so many people believe that they actually help
"gender dysphoria" is a generic term and should be tossed into the bin along with "gender-affirming", they are misleading

but it shouldn't be "gender" anything, the symptoms have nothing to do with gender and are only associated with gender because of the lack of understanding, which again baffles me because the science is right there to see.
“And there you have it,” tweeted Rep. Marcia Morey (D-Durham). “Speaker Tim Moore strong armed Dems into silence by prohibiting our amendments and our debate. As if the supermajority doesn’t already have enough power. Now censorship. This is not what democracy looks like.”
SB 49 was debated earlier Wednesday in the House Rules Committee where several speakers told the committee that the bill gives aid and comfort to bad parents, and urged them to vote against it.
“SB 49 only works for bad parents,” said Renee Sekel, a Wake County parent. “I had bad parents and the cardinal sin in my family was to tell — to tell that my mother’s nickname for me was devil’s spawn; that when she got mad that she’d take me by the hair, throw me on the floor and kick any part of my body that she could reach.”
That wasn’t the worst of it, Sekel said, explaining that when her dad got angry and took off his belt, “Oh God, you’d better run.”
Sekel said she did tell a tell a teacher — once — about an abuse that she suffered. The well-meaning teacher told her parents.
“I have spoken in this body about what happened to me [after the teacher told her parents],” Sekel said.
State Rep. Allison Dahle (D-Wake) said that SB 49 will lead to devastating consequences for LGBTQ students in abusive families.

the science has been around for about a decade and just because a doctor, who gets paid to dole out new drugs, "thinks" that it is correct, doesn't mean that it is.
Name one science that has been correct and consistent since its inception.
IF there is a physical malady, like a tumor, then by all means treat it but not all changes take place in the fetus, the brain and the body continue to develop long after birth and are constantly bombarded with toxic influences both physical and mental

Isn't the question, whatever the cause of proven physical changes isn't the mental wellbeing and overall health of the child the priority?

What they need most is your love and support, not drugs and surgery.

It should be, and for the long term, well into adulthood
Are you suggesting that mutilating the human body somehow makes that persons mental issues "better"?
And this bill does not prevent someone anyone who needs lifesaving medical attention from getting it. IT only prevents needless child mutilations from causing long term medical issues in patients who require mental attention, not physical surgery

I am not dealing with a trans (yet), but I am dealing with a non-binary “open” born male high functioning Autistic 15 year old.
The sexuality in autism, trans, etc tend to crossover under the same umbrella.
I listen a LOT.

Well thanks. None of my kids were “normal”.
I’ve learned a lot along the way.
Self-esteem is #1 — no matter what. And when you’re dealing with exaggerated emotions/feelings, etc — it can be tricky.
Listening is an art.
