Cornel West, the 70-year-old activist and public intellectual, announced on Monday that he is running for president in the 2024 election as a candidate for the People’s party. West made the announcement in a video posted to Twitter, saying that he had “decided to run for truth and justice”. “I come from a tradition where I care about you,” West said. “I care about the quality of your life, I care about whether you have access to a job with a living wage, decent housing, women having control over their bodies, healthcare for all.”

Interesting with the progressives in power, more progressives are running.

I would wager insiders know Biden will run to keep law enforcement at bay, but that’s it.
The nation as a whole doesn’t want anymore of his leadership.
Nor his vp.

I get the feeling that Barack will have Biden removed, and Michelle will take his place. Kamala maybe willing to stay as vice president. Probably before the first Democrat primary election.

I think Barak is going to stay as far away as he can.

Democratic primaries are a complete farce nowadays. The past decade or so has shown that the establishment will have their candidate get the Democrat nod regardless of who's the most popular. ( see Bernie Sanders. )

How many Dems actually supported Biden during the primaries??

With each passing month that "81 million" BS number appears more and more absurd.

Who is Cornel West? Never hard of him. Yeah, I could look him up, but I don't care that much. And that's HIS problem.

West is just a tool for the DNC; part of their insurance policy incase they lose to the Republicans. They can have West initiate a soft coup attempt and keep their hands clean. Just like they did with Jill Stein in 2016.

You're correct. However, there's still plenty of time for Biden to further bury himself enough for the Dems to consider pulling him from reelection.

I still think the scenario of the Dems swapping out Biden for Michele Obama closer to the election is possible. Far fetched, perhaps. But I cannot think of another scenario in which any Democrat candidate would have any enthusiasm behind them.

Well, that's a good thing!

Is a good thing making sure the best man wins or the worst man doesn't win?

That's all politics and voting is to me. It doesn't do squat towards fixing anything. It's always a compromise into doing absolutely nothing.



Let's see... He checked off 7 things out of my list but two of the remining goes against everything I stand for and the other I don't care about...

This guy checked off 3 things that were very important to me but totally ruined it with the 7 that he was against.

This is voting. You need a degree to figure out the lies your trying to evade just to make a proper dicision. In the end... Absolutely nothing that they promised ever has to be in place. We just wont vote for them the next time... or, if it's there 2nd term, it's ok, they'll be gone in 4 years.


No... No no no! There is no accountability in any of this.


So for me, voting is completely useless and pointless. Your votes don't do anything. The money going into politicians pockets before and after elections... THOSE are the votes that matter. You and I.. we dont matter. Never did.

Anyone who believes otherwise has been living under a rock.

Newsflash: the progressives are not in power. They don't by any means make up the majority of the Democratic caucus in the House or Senate, and Sclerotic Joe is no progressive either.

I like Cornell West and what he generally has to say and is for, but he will not get much traction, even from black voters.

Tell it to AOC, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Ilhan Omar or the various progressive news sites and youtube channels. Saying a platform is progressive does not mean the majority of the elected Democrats are progressive or lean in that direction. And saying that the platform is the most progressive in modern history doesn't make it progressive per se either.
And you're citing an article from July, 2020, when he was running for President and was still courting the progressive base. As for the quote itself, it is from the PR flack for a group that has generally been unsuccessful in promoting progressive candidates. They'll try to make anything done by the Democratic party sound progressive, so they can do some undeserved chest thumping. If the progressives were in power, Biden wouldn't be continuing Trump-era border detention policies or his status-quo nuclear defense posture.

Quoting some hack flack for some ineffective political group associated with the progressive cause is not evidence of anything.
