Precisely. Two years ago, I was a moron and got a DUI. Part of my punishment was 60 hours of online schooling. Basically, horror stories of people getting killed by drunk drivers. Needless to say, I don’t drink and drive anymore.

In a free society if a nut is willing to trade their life for others it will happen.
I’m not willing to throw out free society away because of nuts.

And, I want to be crystal clear about something here; this is NOT about only trans-gender issues, not even close. What this IS about is people, any people, who think their issues will somehow be solved by going into a public place and murdering innocent people who had nothing to do with their issues. This solves nothing.

Again, this is not only a trans-gender issue; that just happens to be the excuse de-jour. Any activism, any at all, which promotes violence against innocent people is...terrorism...by definition. These people who are so passionate about whatever their cause is to go out and "murder" innocent people are...TERRORISTS. Period.

This OP also isn't about firearms either. The tool is irrelevant, crazy people will find one, whatever it is. Actions are not carried out by tools, they are carried out by people. Neither is this OP about only the media, or only social media, or video games...or anything else. This OP is explicitly about crazy people intent on killing others not being held responsible for their actions. Period.

The problem we as a society are facing is that 'people' have been disconnected from 'reality'. The only way to fix this problem is to take a wholesale approach at connecting society back to reality. Fantasy is not real.

This person told people they were going to die yesterday.

I would hate to be this persons doctor.
The doctor could have at the least sent in the paperwork to stop the nut from buying more firearms.

I've got a better idea: Find the shrinks who 'treated' these shooters and put them under the hot lights. Because there are ALWAYS shrinks in the background.

If this person's sought after consequences was that their life would end, then why did they feel compelled to take innocent people who did nothing with them? Do you see the problem here? That is an illness, a serious one. It is a defect.

I will agree that crazy people act in irrational ways, but we as a society allow these things, we make excuses for them. Just go look at any MSM source carrying this story. You will not find a single opening paragraph which doesn't mention 'trans-gender' and/or some related activist issue. Those are excuses.

The core / root cause of the problem is this...this person somehow believed that their cause would be furthered not just by taking their own life, but also taking the lives of innocent children also. This simply cannot even be allowed to have any tolerance in modern society at all.

Lastly, how is anything I am suggesting 'trading' anything? If anything, it is the exact opposite.

we''ll only get to the other side of that if a real war enters their/our lives personally rather than it sit on the other side of a lens

until then most of this will titillate, it'll thrill people, it'll be next level exciting for people..

that's just how disturbed a large chunk of our society is..

Don't really have a problem with this, except for one thing...

Under no circumstances can someone else be held responsible for a person's actions. These notions are just excuses...it's always someone else's fault. We perpetuate this mentality by making excuses for it.

The nut sent communications to a friend announcing intent to suicide by cop.
Exactly why is unknown to me right now.
The nut was in care of a Dr.
The nut had gotten rid of firearms previously because of this.
The nut later purchased more firearms as the doctor didn’t activate the states red flag law.

I’m not sure this but had a cause, other than to inflict pain and commit suicide.

an idea from 2 jobs I've done how about getting them to work in care homes, its hard not to get attached to the elderly or care when they die, and maybe see/hear/smell an autopsy.

its hard to turn humans into things after that stuff but it has to be real things to reach people (see hear smell) not televised as it can be turned into just a movie..

I don't think it will do anything.

I see dozens of shoot 'em up videos of gang members getting shot or shot at in my youtube feed. Some quite graphic. None of these videos seems to deter mostly young black men from engaging in ghetto street activity. In fact, they are quite a meme nowadays. There is a drill rap song called "Waddup" that they play as background music in all these CCTV videos showing people getting shot.

These mass shootings are just copy cats and until we figure out how to identify these nut jobs ahead of time, they will continue because these narcists know they will get a lot of media coverage.

I think I've figured out why they do these school shootings.

If you dont want to live anymore but cant bring yourself to suicide, someone else has to do it for you right?

But there's that unlikely chance that you survive your wounds and end up in prison for the rest of your life. So it's like, if you were miserable enough to want to kill yourself in free society, imagine how miserable you'll be in a cell for the rest of your life with nothing to do.

So maybe that isn't it. I was just thinking as I wrote, don't mind me.

Well, there's always the...'do nothing'... option, or the...'it's always someone else's fault; let's hold them accountable' ...solution.

Those two solutions don't seem to be working out so well.

I say we give the gore-porn lovers some REAL gore-porn, some gore-porn which will keep them awake at night in terror. Terror that their secret inner fantasy might not end how they thought it would.

You know, people watch the TV show 'COPS' because they want to see justice be served. What I am suggesting here is, 'COPS' isn't even getting close to the medicine required for what ails our society. I could care less about some drugged out hooker on Main street being arrested, or some low level drug dealer...no, what I'm suggesting is let's show the really evil S# which is going on in our society...AND the aftermath. That other stuff is just 'feel good' noize. It's not reality.

Yes, criminals have rights. They should get the absolute bare minimum but sadly they get treated better than most average day joes for some reason.

Not going to make any assumptions on how old you are or where you grew up, but here in the midwest, I grew up watching videos, in school, about the dangers of drug use, drinking and driving, and other things that normal people would want to avoid. I would go out on a limb and say that this made me think twice before I did any of these things.

Showing people the true, gruesome and terrifying as it might be, might make them think twice before doing said acts.

fear is a bad advisor. education is more important, warning about dangers but not by showing children torn bodies. we were also warned in school about drugs (through films) or what can happen if you don't take the pill or use condoms (through films) - but all harmless, without blood and without sexual intercourse. according to crime and drug statistics germany does a better job then the usa when it comes to education.

Unpopular opinion but, I honestly don't think people should be able to buy machine guns. Ban assault weapons.

They'll have to commit the school shooting with handguns. Those are technically better at close range anyways but I guess it makes it too personal instead of like playing Call of Duty.

That might deter more school shooters because they'd have to use a handgun instead and it makes it too personal.
