A yes, the Chinese are famously long term thinkers...

obviously they are buying the Rift property for future ocean front real estate so that in 20-40 million years, they will prosper.

Or, slightly more realistically, perhaps they expect geologic wealth to be unearthed as the continent spreads over the next 10 million years?

Maybe they just want volcano adjacent winter rentals?

I wonder if they are draining aquifers for the water which is causing some of the collapse.

I watched a video which explains it could create a new Sea
within the African continent

would take a very long time but I think the earth changing like this is pretty cool
would love a new continent to rise out of the sea for us to go settle on
start a fresh without crazy governments telling us what to do whilst stealing our wealth.

It’s a distinct possibility.
