That's what his critics often like. God and Honorable service, usually in that order. It's a more patriotic way to say "God Bless America". Which is a requirement of political office to say. Certain things play better in the rural demographic that despises him.

I feel in the pit of my stomach for a while now that we are going into WW3. Every few days I type into google “Lithuania” and choose news and then choose the past week sorting and read the headlines; I do the same for Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Kaliningrad, Poland, Romania and some others. Troops and arms being increased are many of the articles showing among other damning economical informations.

They are preparing for war- all signs point to it. History repeats itself as they say. I hope I am so wrong about this.

I don't know if you are familiar with Peter Zeihan but he talks about this stuff a lot.

He says the US really really wants to destroy Russia but cannot get involved directly because it would result in a nuclear exchange. Russia see's this war as a fight for it's right to exist, geography and geopolitics come into play here, Russia is trying to plug gaps in the surrounding geography to ensure it can't be invaded and also to gaurantee it's access to trade via the black sea and land routes through kazakstain etc. basically ensuring it's economic survival. if you can't trade you are doomed.

But the US propaganda machine spins it as poor little Ukraine getting stomped on by big bad Russia, And that's somewhat the case but not entirely. Everyone seems to forget Ukraine was a former USSR state...

No. No one has forgotten the Holodomor which is what it was like the last time Ukraine was a Russian state, and that's despite the US's best efforts to hide what was taking place because the "right people" were glowingly approving of communism which meant portraying the USSR in the best light possible.

The problem is that while Ukraine does have a right to exist on its own and self-determine, it's also another one of those places like the Middle East thanks to idiotic green energy policy in the EU and the US. Because we think we can subsist on unicorn farts instead of practical forms of energy, Russia has an outsized impact on energy markets as does Ukraine because of the pipelines running across it. Control Ukraine and you control a lot of the Western world.

It is a flashpoint, and a serious one.

Given the quite good possibility that Russia will use nukes if US boots are on the ground in Ukraine or Belarus, i think it's wise to consider the situation as a whole and how it impacts the world. Instead of just rooting for one team or the other. Sure it would be great if we could all just come together and hold hands and live and let live, but that just wont happen. The US is doing everything it can to help Ukraine stop Russia here and now. And if it's successful then maybe i guess the US can control the area via NATO. That would force Russia into a checkmate i guess. The only question is what incentive does Russia have to use Nukes? Russia isn't Afghanistan. backing them into a corner is not really wise. Backing any nuclear power into a corner is not wise. You run into a situation where Russia has nothing left to lose, and if they are going to die or end up subjugated then taking the whole circus down with them via a nuclear war, might not seem like such a bad idea.

I guess it all depends if the US can win by proxy, by using it's big pocket book to finance guerillas. If not then i think we should back off and let Russia reclaim it. Otherwise...

I suspect the Ukraine War is increasingly leading the Left to reconsider their stance towards the military.

Perhaps the same is true in Germany, where apparently men in the Bundeswehr and wearing uniforms have made a reappearance as a normal part of society.

I mean who's ultimately going to save and protect you?

Antifa? Yeah sure they get violent, with certain provisos like safety in numbers, whacking people with bicycle locks and melting away, and authority responses and courts not focusing on them.
Some might thrive in a riot, but I wouldn't expect them to protect any borders (which they probably think shouldn't exist anyway).

Even in the lgbt scene inspired by leftist academic theory, there was a lot of critique of the "fit, strong man" as exemplars of capitalism and fascism.

Yeah, all good and easy to say for radical gender theorists as long as you had another fit, strong man in uniform to protect you.
And it's disturbing how these radicals refer to HIV in symbolic terms of exaggarated "gay male health", but ignore gay-bashing or even violent crimes within the gay community, almost like they've never gotten off the couch and gone into the street (without a parade to back them up all the time).

But now in a collapsing state like South Africa, you can no longer depend on the police to protect you whatsoever.
Sure, there's private security at a cost, but otherwise you can no longer outsource your safety (or that of the old, the infirm or the kids around you).

It's no longer a case of "Oh let's just be fat and miserable, because I couldn't find a muscle-Mary on Grindr tonight".
Some other man will take a bullet or a machete for my safety.

And it's no longer just South Africa, I see clips daily about Western cities, where the police are basically disinterested in things like violent assaults, muggings, carjackings and housebreaking.

So if you're a male and not at least trying and aspiring to be fit and strong to defend yourself and those around you, you are living in a fool's paradise.
(Same with women and trans-people, just not my expertise.)

And it's the same with countries ... if you got people in uniform willing to fight in your place, at least start being nice to them.

I have found out that if the person you are conversing with doesn't understand the Biden context, they can become quite offended. Ironic Biden can get away with it, however.
