The hammer was Paul's who went after the guy and then the guy took the hammer from Paul in self defense, and in SF I do believe Paul should go to jail for attacking the guy who broke into his house, and who had no weapon. If people can go into a store and take 1000 dollars worth of items and the security can not stop them otherwise it is assault then Paul had no right to assault the guy with a hammer.

Was the intruder intent on violence having zero weapons? Paul attacked him with a hammer and he took the hammer from Paul, so Paul initiated the violence

In San Fran you are not allowed to physically stop someone from stealing etc, not my rules so look to Pelosi and the liberal Government there for that. If Paul pulled out an AR and shot the guy that would be murder BTW...
