So far, there are 67 workplace locations throughout Los Angeles county that have newly confirmed COVID-19 infections. Those worksites range from casino (1) to Amazon warehouse (5) to fire departments (4), oil refineries (2), meat-packing plant (1), free-standing medical laboratory (1), international airport (1), retail stores (at least 5), and Google offices (2). Here's the link with full details, updated on weekdays:

publichealth.lacounty.gov...-settings

As that page heading says, each of these locations has three or more laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Guess we need some Mail In Voting for the midterms!

But yeah, it is endemic now like colds and flu. Pandora's box is open on this one. Soon I fear monkeypox will be the new hotness for community spread because our leadership REFUSES to address the problem.

There is no way to avoid it if you work in an office. It is just a matter of time. Vaccines do not prevent acquisition or transmission of the virus so what can you "rationally" do?

Are we just talking about positive cases without severe illness? I'm not really seeing all that many people with a severe case of covid these days.

"...laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases"

That means absolutely nothing. How many are really ill, how many are really ill and really suffering from covid and not something else while they are tested positive with covid but without any symptoms? They can test us into oblivion with their tests to justify their own inhuman anti-people measures, that is one of their tools they use since that corona BS began and tests were available.

Could you please also tell me the exact numbers of foot fungus and herpes infections at these workplaces? To have a bigger picture and just to be sure that i am anxious enough to eat all that "health"-BS for a third year in row.
Cheers

L.A. County has a population of 9,861,224 people. Is it time to panic? Better ask Garcetti and Gavin what to do....

That sure doesn't sound like a lot of cases for how many people might beworking at those places. I couldn't get my browser to open that site, got it set on a more strict setting after I opened a site and some virus or spyware tried to get into my computer. The Windows defender did catch it, but I also had to run the antivirus to get it all out. Spent about seven hours screwing with it till I was sure it was gone.

I'm just glad I don't have to work with the public or ever see the public unless I want to or have to work in an office.

Office workers will just be passing covid back and forth till the end of times now. Endemic, especially in the office setting. Someone gets Covid-19, passes it around in the office, people get sick, some get really sick, some get really, really sick, a few get hospitalized and the odd person dies. Everything is then OK for a couple months, then it starts over all again as someone brings Covid-19 to the office again

Oh there's very serious cases of covid still but that cash cow with the main stream media has already sailed. The covid on the news isn't bringing in the large viewership anymore so the MSM doesn't care about putting it on the top stories any longer. These days it's Monkeypox and Trump getting pushed for viewers

a reply to: rickymouse -- for anyone who experiences technical difficulties getting to that website, you can directly type the phrase los angeles county public health into your internet browser, then click on their COVID-19 button to get to their main page for those statistics.

Once there, search for other locations (of confirmed outbreaks of COVID-19). Once on the other locations page, there is a button for workplace statistics, which you can otherwise find by scrolling down that page about one foot. So far this month, they seem to be updating workplace data only once a week or so.

The severity of each diagnosed person's illness depends on many factors -- over age 50? -- vaccinated, and if so, just an initial shot or the whole series? -- or if the person already has chronic conditions like diabetes, COPD, and a long list of other possibles.

a reply to: infolurker -- the concept of endemic public health diseases is discussed on medical Twitter at some length by epidemiologists. Thus far, they continue to claim that COVID-19 is nowhere near endemic disease status.

Office defenses against COVID-19 include improved air filtration, which many employers have not yet tried. When I was at a medical office to get care recently, I noticed that the exam room's air filtration thru a ceiling panel was set at a much more rapid exchange rate than I had seen there before. About a month ago, my family and I attended a funeral in Los Angeles county where the building's main reception area had some free-standing air filters going. We were all wearing N95 masks as well. ... so there are ways ...

a reply to: tamusan -- hi, my understanding of US county public health monitoring of COVID-19 infections is that any positive diagnosis is counted as one case. No matter whether the infection is mild, moderate, severe, or life-threatening, each positive test result for each new infection is counted as one case.

a reply to: vNex92 -- hi, there are a number of factors involved in considering the effectiveness of COVID-19 booster shots. For elders, the boosters are highly effective in preventing serious illness that may end in hospitalization, ICU admission, or death. As new mutations of the SARS-CoV-2 virus arrive on the scene, however, vaccine protection against illness will change as the virus continues to try to adapt.

a reply to: rickymouse -- I agree w/ you on the low number of confirmed new cases of COVID-19 in those LA county workplaces. Most people who get a negative rapid in-home test don't report that to anyone, which doesn't help the overall statistical view. People in California who get a positive in-home test result are asked to notify their MD, plus get a follow-up lab test at their workplace or MD office. If the follow-up lab test is negative, that still gets reported to the public health department as a negative test. If the follow-up lab test is positive, that gets reported to the public health department, either from the MD's office or from the workplace.

If overall LA county positive workplace-reported lab test results really are low, I don't know what that means. We did early morning food shopping this morning to stock up a little, since LA county just started its biggest heat wave this year, expected to last around 10 days. We saw a few more shoppers and store employees wearing face masks. Also, LA county high school students came back to in-person instruction this morning ... maybe 25% of the students were wearing masks, better than nothing. The key to in-school pandemic safety seems to be indoor air filtration, and some US airflow engineering experts have information on US social media (YouTube and Twitter) on how to put together an air filtration machine for under $100.00 that works as well as the much higher priced HEPA filters. (See Corsi/Rosenthal technique online.)

Pshhh, please, they were all unvaccinated obviously!! That’s the only reason why they would have covid, and you know what, they deserve it! That’s what you get for being a filthy, unvaxxed, individual. If you are fully vaccinated you are protected from getting, spreading, being seriously ill, or dying from covid. Make sure to get your next booster!!

a reply to: Uphill -- Everyone, COVID-19 death statistics in Los Angeles county are currently decreasing for the under-60 ages, and are increasing for the over-60 age groups. Some of those folks who died were vaccinated with additional medical risk factors (such as diabetes), and quite a few were completely unvaccinated. The quickest and most accurate way to understand your own personal pandemic risk factors is to ask your own medical doctor.
