I'm afraid Russia is biting off more than they can Chew , and of course they are making Nuclear threats. Now usually I would just see Nukes as an idle threat but now I'm not so sure , is Putin desperate enough to start dropping nukes along his neighbors borders ? Is this really the beginning of WW3 , I'm not one for doom porn but I must say the battle lines seem to be drawn and countries are picking sides

How has NATO helped Ukraine? Last I saw, 95% of all aid was coming from America.

I dont see how this NATO thing is such a big deal.

Well, it has been nice talking to you guys, maybe we got a few more months to chat before all of us are swearing at a bunch of useless hunks of technology burn't to a crisp by some nuclear explosions in the upper atmosphere. Hopefully my garden will come in pretty well this year, I may have to build a root celler to store foods for next winter and the following summer.

But it's entirely possible that Putin could drop one on ukraine but still get his ass kicked by conventional military.

I honestly think he could get away with one or two nukes so long as he spaced them out before we all just said # it and released tons of radiation.

If he shots a bunch at once then yes we are all doomed.

there is a reason NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS were ever used after japan.

because we had MAD

it was not a maybe, we will wait to see what else happens, ok they only used one/two tac nukes .. but if ANY NUCLEAR WEAPONS USED (along with chemical and biological in US eyes) ALL WOULD FLY ... period.

It kept the hot heads in check on BOTH SIDES and prevented an accidental war due to computer screwups, radar mistakes and hot heads in tense situations like the russian sub with an nuke torpedo during the cuban crisis.

if you allow EVEN THE POSIBLITY of letting a country use "just one or two tactical nuclear weapons" it WONT STOP..

it will be a green light for some country to say "well we need this one just to "defend" ourselves"....

no we CANNOT ACCEPT EVEN ONE being used and must make it clear RESPONSE WILL BE SWIFT , IMMEDIATE AND OVERWHELMING IN KIND.

i must ask you.. do you REALLY want to open that pandoras box?

Poland and Romania have taken millions of refugees.

There's a difference between charity and volunteering. I'd say both are equal. Rich people give money, and those who are charitable but not rich give their time.

I would also say "donate" is a tad understating it

we get the opportunity to cycle out weapons that have (as all do) a "shelf life" nearing end and older generation weapons ..
cleaning out the explosive fridge as it were

thus allowing us to get "fresher" and more updated "boom booms"

along with the added benefit of seeing how well (or not) these older systems work in a PRACTICAL / real world combat zone.

thus practical R and D.

all to help a country fight a now or future foe (and their tech)

a win win all around

now before someone says "oh your a (pick a group hated by liberals) that just loves war, death, ect" let me be clear

I WISH THIS NEVER HAPPENED NOR WANTED IT TO HAPPEN

but if some "bully" wants to start something, why not help the attacked and have practical benefits to us?

I think the real question is, what shape are the Russian nukes even in? they are probably rusting and unusable looking at the rest of the armament they have and the way they take care of it. Their nukes would probably blow up on the pad.

When Russia wants to act like an adult and not demand special treatment (like they did last time they applied) I'm sure NATO would be more than willing to allow them admittance. Assuming they stop violating the borders of sovereign nations.

It could put China and Russia to officially sign mutual security treaty. Considering CSTO already includes Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia etc., that would be the most powerful mutual security treaty humanity has ever seen. 1.6 million people, 30 million square kilometers. Woozers!

Makes no difference to us cuz we have no desire to attack either country, and it wouldn't be all that much more challenging to defend against both at once if necessary, as both are decades behind in just about everything.

US would never allow Russia to join NATO. Russia does not kowtow to the US government.

I don't see Finland and Sweden joining NATO. Hungary will veto their bids.
