But at least you are an experiencer. I don't accept that any of the famous authors ever saw a UFO, at least with enough clarity and detail.

That's a fair point.

Thanks. I realize that the author celebrities count on each orher for ideas but even if they had sightings, there would not be anything special in their books and they just rely on he said/she said. Seeing a UAP/UFO is thrilling, especially if there is something unusual about the sighting. But thousands have sightings and they are not driven to writing a book that just contains old, uninteresting info. But the famous and not so famous authors do have one thing in common: the drive to make money easily and quickly for they know that there's enough gullibility to furnish them with a comfortable life. Good, Dolan, Ruppelt, Hynek, Keel, Vallee, to name just a few, are no more knowledgeable about UFOs than the average member of this forum. No one can supply any new info and it's really been there, done that.

The authors, to their credit, see a field that's ripe for making money and gaining notoriety. Of course, it helps to have a writing talent although there are a ton of editors waiting for new material to use their editing talents on. And it helps to not be shy and able to speak in public to all sizes of audiences. Based on my 64 years in UFOlogy I would have written a ton of best-selling books but I've never cared to bs for money, I enjoy being honest. It didn't bother the above named authors.

Clearly Timothy believes what he says, but how can anyone take it serious, without any proof whatsoever

I don't.

But I will stop there when it comes to Tim .

The whole problem with ufology and religion is that what matters is how a person is transformed inside through experience, not someone being so anxious to go around yelling I SAW N ANGEL OR A UFO OR I SAW A SPACE BROTHER OR SISTER

Shut the hell up and try to benefit from the experience. Let it become a nutrient for your development, not a source for one’s vanity and ego

Gee, I saw this or that…

What did it do for you?

did it change you for the better

I used to like Timothy Good's books when I was younger and the internet didn't really exist. Tim even had a 'real' career as a violinist and has played on a few famous names records in days gone by.

But I long ago realised he's just another story collector and teller.

His support of George Adamski's tales being particularly suspect. So, like many of his UFO industry peers, his research has not always been as rigorous as it could or should be. Which then allows for conclusions his main audience prefer.

I've got him marked as "For entertainment purposes only".

Nice response.

The reason that most UFO authors have nothing to give, but only
take, and feed off each other,

is that at it's core, there is a 'self-transformation' element
associated with genuine 'high strangeness' UFOs; if you don't
draw one to you, and study it,

you are just a noisy air chime in the wind,

UNLESS

you've got great pattern-matching and analytical skills
and you can see a 'meta narrative' forming.

There are some people on ATS like that..

And I really value them.

That's the most brilliant thing you've ever posted on ATS!

Yes!

The 9 years since my 2013 encounter have been ENTIRELY
about self-healing, and personal development. I didn't
notice that fact at first.. I was hyponotized by the
transitory contents of the Little Red Wagon.

I also value a few authors whose books don't contain the same old bs but stand out as different in the field because they contain information that is more valuable especially to emerging readers who prefer the hard-to-find truth about some events and personalities. Since I'm a natural, open-minded skeptic I prefer to read material that exposes some of the better-known topics such as the mythical UFO crash near Roswell. A good, but controversial author is Kal K. Korff who wrote a book exposing Eduard "Billy" Meier and, currently, Roswell.

My favorite author exposing the Roswell myth is Karl T. Pflock who wrote the definitive book: "Roswell: Inconvenient Facts and the Will to Believe"
"In 2001, findings from Plfock's eight-year investigation of the Roswell Incident were published in a book titled Roswell: Inconvenient Facts and the Will to Believe, published by Prometheus.[12] In the book, Pflock outlines his journey from "hopeful agnostic" to a close examination of the photos, drawings, eyewitness reports, and declassified accounts of the incident which lead him to conclude that no evidence existed to support claims of a crashed flying saucer at Roswell.[7][12][13][14] It was Project Mogul, with its high-altitude balloons designed to detect Soviet nuclear tests, not an alien space ship or bodies, that the government wanted kept secret in their, purportedly, botched press conferences.[7][13][15] Research for the project was conducted by New York University on behalf of the U.S. Army Air Force. The materials found at the crash site in New Mexico, with its alleged "hieroglyphics", were made by a novelty company based in New York and consistent with reports made at the time by people who were at the crash site.[12] The UFO community rejected Pflock's findings.[7][15] Reviewers called Roswell: Inconvenient Facts and the Will to Believe the "definitive book" on Roswell, with its comprehensive, closely reasoned, and evidence-based look at the event.[12][14]"

"Roswell is a classic example of the triumph of quantity over quality. The advocates of the crashed-saucer tale, wittingly or not, simply shovel everything that seems to support their views into the box labeled 'Evidence' and say, 'See? Look at all this stuff. We must be right. Never mind the contradictions. Never mind the lack of independent supporting fact. Never mind the blatant absurdities.

— Karl T. Pflock"

it seems most UFO researchers really dislike Kal K. Korff,
but I too like him. He's rational.

will check this one out soon. watched one the best interviews I've seen on podcast ufo with James Fox just last night, hoping this one will be good as well. James has a new docu coming out soon about the case in Brazil with creatures as well as a saucer. Can't wait for it.

A 26-year-old case doesn't hold any interest for me anymore as I read everything that was reported at the time. Out of sight, out of mind. But, hey, enjoy! Go to the wikipedia URL, below, and see a photo of the spaceship-shaped water tower.

Varginha UFO incident
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The spaceship-shaped water tower at the central park of Varginha City is a symbol of the UFO incident
The Varginha UFO incident involves a series of events in 1996 when various citizens of Varginha, Brazil reported seeing one or more strange creatures and at least one UFO sighting. Stories in the media claimed one or more extraterrestrial beings that were later captured by the Brazilian military.[1] Such reports were first broadcast on the Sunday TV show Fantástico of Rede Globo and garnered media coverage worldwide including an article in The Wall Street Journal.[2] It is one of the best-known cases in Brazilian ufology.

The Brazilian government denied conspiracy theorists claims that it was hiding evidence of extraterrestrials.[3] The lack of evidence for this incident is noted even by otherwise credulous ufologists. For example, Kevin D. Randle noted that there is a lack of physical evidence supporting the case, and adds, "In fact, we have been unable to verify much of anything."[4]

I agree that some of these cases are old and dusty but from what I heard from the James Fox interview his documentary and interviews with many of the witness's of the case should be good. The kids that witnessed the creature always interested me and to hear them speak on it now might be worth the price of admission. I still hold interest in a few old cases as nothing new seems to be happening except what the military has talked about. i always felt that we won't have much in the evidence department from a country like Brazil during that time period before the cell phone and technology.

However, I watch entertaining shows such as "... Caught On Camera" and some of the videos that are shown include security camera footage of street action in some South American towns where strange, alien-like beings are seen walking on the streets mainly at night. So nothing can be ruled out. You don't see stuff like that happening in large, well-lit streets of New York City and Chicago.
